I wonder whether the reason for the difference in colour might be because the fish wasn't well from the beginning. Often when my fish arent well they loose their colour

Sorry Kelsta... mine had lumps at the same time on their body and some just developed a hole in their tail fin. The ram has a hole in its tail and a white mark above its eye. Isnt the bird wormer better for flukes? Avesamole (sp?) It is available online here in NZ and dosent have the same toxicity as the other drugs.

Dosent fin rot appear at the ends of the fins? The lumps and holes I have seen have been nearer to where the fin meets the body.

You can get an ordinary flouro double light fixture from mitre 10 etc for the same price.... they work fine if it is just sitting on the lid...

Good luck sexing them....for the life of me I cant see the difference in the two I have that are a pair.

When this happened to mine it seemed to be a result of a weakened system caused by other things like parasites. Viral sounds right to me. It is interesting that only fish from the infected tank have succumbed to this, even when they have been moved for several months. The other fish have remained fine.

My dwarf gouramis all had something similar before they died, both on fins and sometimes on their body. It seems to be related to parasites but, hey, info is scarce and i never found anything to treat it. My male blue ram has just appeared with a similar mark on it's tail fin and above its eye. Have placed it in a small tank with salt and furan just to see if it survives.....good luck

Lots of fun... I have four all together. Much easier than blue rams,,,they dont up and die lol. Beautiful colours as well. Great lips too!

i have never housed them with guppys. I guess they would eat the fry and mine occasionally like to 'pester' other fish like large angels and, when i had them, the dwarf gouramis. If you decide to get some check out the long fin varieties, also the leopard danios are stunning. good luck and I hope someone has more info for you.

yeah....simple as.... after dismantling the tank and scaring every other inhabitant... :oops: But great fish all the same
