  1. You can overflow the tank, or vacuum it out with a siphon tube. Seriously, if you still have it you are not trying hard enough. It is a tank. A small and finite amount of surface area. The duckweed floats even. (unless it is in some large area like a pond)
  2. Now that is what you call Entree/Pet/Stupid, whichever the croc chooses on any particular morning.
  3. LMAO gambling and the markets...one can't just jump in expecting a solid cash return in three weeks now, can they?
  4. You could make crafts, or sell some old things around the house on trademe this week.
  5. IME Alan's arrive in good form. Be careful, and always ask how the person will send them. Often they send them in a flattened bag in a regular envelope, this leaves the plant stems squashed and crumpled and some will melt on you. This is the case because aquatic plants do not have thick cellulose cell walls to hold them erect because the water buoy them up. So always check. I have found a bunch of people charge $5 for postage and send it in a regular envelope with $1 stamp.
  6. AlanMin4304 on here has them for sale sometimes, and on TM under a similar name too. He is a legend at aquarium plants especially swords.
  7. There is a fantastic profile article by one of our experienced fishkeepers here: http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... ?f=31&t=57
  8. They are fish with the consciousness' of poor rottweilers who had their bodies dissected in horrible alien probing experiments.
  9. Stupid ginga cat. I say let rusty tease the tail off of the mongrel thing.
  10. You can squirt your daily dose of Flourish Excel (up to a double dose) onto the area with a syringe, and systematically work through the tank. Take out the wood/stones/filter parts and dose them in a 1:19 bleach solution. Or add CO2 to kill it. SAE's will keep the young/new parts of it trimmed neatly. Ninja'd by Mark.
  11. So does this mean that they measured 0.002ppm NO2, out of a possible 32ppm
  12. Isn't that just one of the most amazing looking birds!
  13. Due to me being allergic to my Rainbow Lorikeet I have to sell him. Actually he is unsexed. This is XimXim. He is an untrained Lori, and is almost 8 months old. Asking price $150. You can pick him up from me in Hokitika. Or you can pick up from Halswell, Chch on Thursday 27th, in two weeks.
  14. Because Ich has a cyst stage in the substrate. But it does not have a dormant stage so once you are rid of it You have to introduce it again to your tank to get a new infestation.
  15. I have used 1.5tsp salt to 3.75L (1 US g) with plants and the only affected plant was java fern which bounced back. Salt is a two week course.
  16. Take out the carbon as it is only good for short term. Water changes help keep the water clear better than a small packet of carbon ime. But I wouldn't worry about it taking nutrients. What it does absorb it releases back into the tank when it breaks down. Which is reportedly after only a few days. A good product for short term use.
  17. The previous question hadn't been answered when I asked mine. Good to know though.
  18. I know but seriously I couldn't help myself.
  19. I just got a response to a question for a fish tank in Timaru. Three oscars are in a 74L tank. The owner said they were just going to trim the tails as they grew rather than put them in a bigger tank! Some people need deleting from society imho.
  20. Guys the title says it all: Fish (anything swimming) and Pic (as in photo) Now get to posting.
  21. Come now we are all forgetting about Bob.
  22. I was wondering will this hold up? I can't see any external nails/screws holding the wood in place. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 392669.htm
