IME there is no faster way than with too much MH light over a tank to incite the algal infestation. But I do wish you luck. One nano planted, if you use the right sized plants, is a grand sight. Your biggest problem is maintaining a balance of everything in such a small environment.

Wood breaking down ads to the Total Dissolved Organic Compounds and Solids. The break down of this uses up a lot of the available Carbonate if they have acid water, thus depriving the filter bacteria. Plus up the water changes to 50-70% a week. And cut back on feeding to twice or 3 times per week. An algal bloom happens when there is an imbalance. Often too much Nitrogen and too much Phosphate. Even if they get another CF1200 it will help. Over filtration is better than under. A CF1200 is barely enough for 300L ime.
