  1. Leave a chunk of meat out for a few days till it gets smelly, that'll attract the eels like nothing.
  2. Hey jn, Thanks for that. I'll do another dose tuesday, then vac the tank and dose again friday. Fingers crossed..... i cant see it on the tetras anymore (inffected fish) but the pearl gouramis have it still. WCMM, corys and guppies dont seem to have any.
  3. Yup i know how you feel. I just wish i had ........................ ah well too late now. Theres so many contradicting info on here about how to dose, when to water change etc. I have added the 1st dose of wunder cure, do i dose everyday then do a water change on the 3rd day? or do i water change on 3rd day then dose again etc. ?? I managed to save 2 cory eggs from being eaten by the community and they have hatched tonight too. Theyre in a floating container in the affected tank. they'll just have to tough it through this.
  4. Thanks for the info, have raised the temp to 28, no carbon filter, just filter wool, will i have to change it or just rinse as usual? Understand about having a quarantine tank but all tanks are full atm. Took a risk and my others fish are paying for it. me too.
  5. Thanks, i have really learnt my lesson. Will do that now.
  6. I did the unthinkable and put shop brought stock in my tank. Now i have white sopts everywhere. (on fish)... Obviously i have to treat the whole tank, but is the white spot treatment ok for bristlenoses and corys?? Its the wunder cure stuff. I also have meth blue if thats better to use. Thanks
  7. Was at wet pets (finally) on the weekend. Just looking for a touch of colour for my tank. Nothing interested me so my second choice was an albino catfish. Hubby found one and called me over, *Yikes* $95 for an albino lung fish. We admired it then left. 1st time i've seen one and can say it almost looked like a baby axolotyl. So i came home and traded a friend some guppies for a couple of bristlenoses.
  8. wow, thats a cool pic. Good luck with them.
  9. OMG what a score. I bet the next time someone gets her and points to the real neons, she'll feel small.
  10. Have you contacted the places that make farm troughs and water storage containers for the connections? Failing that if you have the pipe already, you could try heating it to make the bends rather than joining? Ohhhh ohhh i just had an idea, :bounce: what about that black stuff the powerco people use to put pipes and electrical things in underground?? Its serrated and flexi and comes in a huge range of sizes. There's a place that makes them (and other sorts of plastic pipes / tubing) just 200mtrs down from where i live. Might be cheaper to ask for an off cut than buying elbows etc.
  11. It started out red then developed a white top then after about a week went white. But yours sounds alot different to my old girl. Gd luck.
  12. does it look like this? http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/new-go ... 24415.html I left mine as everything else seemed normal, then she developed what looked like fin rot then went all bloated, stopped eating and eventually died. NOT saying thats what will happen to yours but best of luck. i've since sworn off dwarfs and invested in pearl and 3- spot gourami.

    Snail help!

They sound like common pond snails. They will breed worse than flies but will be great out in your pond. The larger ones leave good tracks in the algae but they all clean up after the fish. I have some in the fry tubs and bare bottomed tanks just to clean up.
  14. Ha, i've decided not to continue with the dwarf gourami breed as the male went exactly the same way a couple of weeks later. So far success in keeping the 8 pearl and 2 3-spot.
  15. unreal i had no idea they didnt breed in their tv's. (tanks) I think they are the coolest looking dudes, pity my LFS never has them :-?
  16. lol  that sounds so cool. Would be neat to see a pic when done. I went away from the 'norm' a bit in my tank landscaping. I have small dk grey pebbles with a light scattering of white pebbles just to off set the grey. then randomly placed small polished pieces of paua around. The colouring in the paua looks just like the colouring in my pearl gourami. And as the corys keep moving the paua to look for food, it keeps changing. I'm on the lookout for those really small paua shells to put in whole.
  17. i think their name is corydora aeneuis? hmm bronze corys. Ok thanks, i read that bbs makes them grow fast but everyone has different ideas. I'm still feeding my g/fish fry on egg yolk so they can have that too then.
  18. Forgot to mention i only gave them a very small amount of each today. I havnt been feeding them for the 4 days
  19. ok, i have sucsessfully looked after some eggs that have hatched and i have 12 4day old wee corydoras. They are in a floating container. I fed them insofuria (cause i had some) egg yolk, (had some too) and this super fine crushed stuff called 'staple food for fry'. Only because i was too slow in the bbs hatching. I do have some bbs on the go and siphoned some of the early hatchers out this morning. Is it best to just feed them bbs and for how long? is a mixed diet ok... giving them the fry food? Generally how long should i wait until i release them into the tank... I understand the whole fit in the mouth of others scenario, i'm just wondering how long that would be? 1month? 2? there's 2 adult 3spot gourami in the tank and about 4 med guppies.
  20. Well done to both. See you soon
  21. i just witnessed them spawning again, laying more eggs in 2 different spots and the guppies waiting in stealth mode in the background. 8) i've managed to scrape off about 10 or so, have them in a wee floating container with some m. blue. will see what happens as was not intending on breeding them.
  22. i came in at lunch today to see the new corydoras absolutley hooning around and of course it all stopped when i stood and watched. But i saw these on the glass. I can only assume the eggs belong to them? I know its a bit fuzzy but the guppies are in a frenzy feeding on them. I Just got them last week so no idea on what to do with them (egg-wise)
  23. Ive had these guys on order for a few weeks now. Tank is finally ready for new fish so i got them sent down. All settled in really well. See the cory at the bottom? I got 6 altogether, brought 3 and given 3.
