Theres traffic officers on the harbour bridge aplenty I gather and around Tamaki Drive. Came back from tennis this afternoon and in the couple of hours I was playing the wind trebled in strength.

I would imagine it will depend on how much cover there is and what else is in the tank. If both parents are looking after them the other fish (species?) may not get much of a look in until they are a bit bigger as kribs can be vicious when they need to. The fact that the've raised them this far will be testament to this.

Are the fry free swimming? or was it a bubble with a tail (if you get my meaning) that escaped. My kribs were always okay with the babies for the first 3 days after they became free swimming. I suggest you look at moving the babies out and raising them seperately. Others may disagree, By the way I have seen the females move fully developed fry in their mouths and put them back with the bunch.

How old are these babies, are they actually free swimming?

Could have been either ime. How old are they? My first pairing I only could keep the female in with them and she raised hundreds successfully. The second pairing I removed the male and gradually over a couple of weeks the mother ate the lot

I would remove her for about a week. Are you certain that 'she' is a female as I know there are a lot of short fin males being sold down your way at the moment (and quite a few up here). Once a male has been badly attacked it is possible he may be reticent about attempting to breed again so it would be best to seperate them and try again when he's 'forgotten'. Yes, I know fish are supposed to have short term memories but imo if they are that bad how do they remember that when someone stands in front of the tank its usually food time.

I was going to make some smart remark when I saw your post - but I refrained The male does have nice colouring so you may end up with some lilac and purple shades which would be great imo. Will be really interesting to see what the fry turn out like and what colour the fins and tails are of the lighter bodied ones.

All I can suggest is that he has cambodian in him as he has the pearlescent sheen on his body. You'll know for sure if he breeds and is crossed with a fully coloured female as approx half the spawn will have white bodies and the other half will be coloured (or at least thats what happens with mine)

I don't know what the instructions on the tonic salt say but I have in the past dosed fighter tanks with rock salt at 1 gram per litre of water.

the one at the bottom is like the blue rams I had. The one at the top is closer in looks to the rams I saw that were gold ram/blue ram crosses.

Now I'm getting a better picture - if your tank is that size what else apart from the 3 female fighters, angels and a catfish do you have in there?

$220 is expensive. I've just purchased an aqua one aquis 2200 for $170 approx and had it shipped up for about $15 from Nelson. Cf1200 are about $140 up here.

I'm not even going to go to the shops this weekend. I have to keep repeating to myself 'buying fish is bad, bad, bad' :evil:

There are some low life around. My office at work was broken in to on Monday morning and an attempt made to steal my new computer - big screen lcd (the last two have been stolen in the last 10 weeks). This time they didn't get it because it was chained. However they can not have realised this and dropped it onto the keyboard and colour printer. Smashed the screen, , cracked the keyboard in two places/ and gouged the printer really well.

I will do daily water changes and test for the next week or so. Am starting the cannister today so will chuck some cycle in and some other bits and pieces to help boot it along.

I am going to be looking after a couple of 20cm oscars from Saturday for a few weeks while they are in transit to their new home. Have a 4ft tank set up as of tonight. Also have an external cannister filter which I will start up tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have any spare media to kick start it. What should I feed them. What is the preferred tank temp. Suggestions welcome as I don't know the first thing about them but would like them to remain happy and healthy while in my care.

I'm a member and have not had a card or email. I was in my local one today and the fancy plecs were missing (they said 'under treatment') and the discus tank was empty. Any way it worked out that even with the 10 -15% discount off this weekend what I wanted was way cheaper at another local shop. :roll:
