  1. Re the filtration - the CF1200 won't put through nearly enough for a tank that size. Minimum flow is 4 x the volume which would be 1600 litres per hour. You would require at least two CF to get near enough filtration. Perhaps the CF you already have and something else with quite a bit more volume. It doesn't have to break your budget though I have just sold my sun sun 1400lph which was absolutely brilliant and was only $85 brand new a couple of years ago. Pay more, perhaps less breakages - that I really cant comment on as no experience.
  2. I have just tidied up this thread as the permissions were not set correctly, therefore it was an open thread, whereas it should have been closed. Any issues please message the appropriate person below Website administration - Livingart or Adrienne Moderators - Caryl, alanmin4304, Livingart Thanks for all the feedback that has come in so far. As admins we are new and still finding out feet
  3. Yes please do Wanted to BuyFollow this 0Private individuals wishing to buy aquarium related items such as fish, plants, reptiles and amphibians and related equipment. Please include location in your post so others can see if it is local or not.. Start new topic Mark forum as read If you go to your name at the top right of the page and click on it you will be given an option to edit your profile. By putting in your location it will always appear and this means that if you have problems you are more likely to get offers of help from others who live nearby.
  4. I've just sold my setup. If you put your location in you might find someone who has one as generally they can not be shipped so therefore need to be purchased locally. There are plenty of cylinders on trade me - just search under CO2 cylinders. I have a couple more pressurised cylinders which I am intending to sell however I do not know if they have the regulator/solenoid attahed.
  5. Nice http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/christchurch-life/mainlander/325811/Blue-cray-rarity http://www.nzgeographic.co.nz/archives/issue-109/colourmorphs
  6. Ron at New Pupuke Aquarium in Northcote has some stunning cichlids available. He does ship if necessary but it would be well worth you making the trip to visit him if you can.
  7. I think I might have already said welcome but yes, we certainly do have some serious and passionate African cichlid keepers on the forums. Have a read through the cichlids section and from the posts, it is pretty easy to work out who they are. If you go up to your name and click on edit profile, then put your location in you may find that there are some living near to you who are more than happy to have people look at their setups
  8. Welcome to the FNZAS forums. Please go up to the welcome section and introduce yourself. Before you even attempt to go there have you looked at 'The List'? It is the top stickie in this Freshwater section. The reason I ask is that if the species that you want is not on the list of allowed imports then there is no point you going further. There are three main importers in NZ and they are the major wholesale suppliers to the shops. There are a few private importers who mostly import to their own requirements or the requirements of businesses that they personally own. Most are not on these forums. Not trying to sound negative here but unless you are talking hundreds of a particular species then the costs are huge and at the end of the day the market needs to be out there. Previous times, and even right now, importers have bought in species of fish, at request, to find out that no one will pay the end price after importing, quarantining costs and all extras are taken in to consideration.
  9. These have all gone. I may have one more bucket but will post again if this is so.
  10. Selling my sunsun cannister filter, 1400 lph. Comes with bio balls and ceramic noodles plus filter wool. I really liked this filter, always ran well. No spray bar but the spray bar elbow is there. $30 Pick up Epsom, Auckland. NB I am away Sunday/Monday.
  11. I hae 3 x 20 litre (I think) buckets of a mix of jbl aquabasis, black fluorite and black grit with a small amount of red brown mixed into it which I have removed from my tank. This stuff is fantastic for growing plants. If anyone is looking for free substrate to add to their tank it is all yours for the taking. Pick up only Epsom, Auckland.
  12. I suspect no one has looked at this thread because your title doesn't tell people what you want gone. Most people browse the forum titles and when they see something they want they open up the thread. Try starting another saying something like Danios free (pickup only or shipping available) and the location. It really might help you get rid of them.
  13. Looking forward to getting the information so we can send you out the membership card and get you on the emailing list for our magazine.
  14. If all else fails, your local fish shop will be able to order one in for you. Do you belong to the Dunedin club because their members may have one sitting in the shed looking for a home? They are a great group of people and well worth becoming involved with For information click on Local Clubs at the top of this page.
  15. Hmmm, its pretty large and might cost an awful lot. If no one takes it I'll get back to you early next week.
  16. Selling my FX5 as I am converting to a marine tank with a sump. 4-5 years old, in good running condition with all attachments. Strainer requires a couple of suction cups to hold it against the glass and two of the clamp that screw the lid down are missing a little piece of plastic on each. They still work perfectly well without them. Comes with media which from memory is sintered glass in two of the trays and ceramic balls (I think) in the third. All sponges are also there. Pick up Epsom. $250 ono I am away this coming Sunday and Monday.
  17. Still available - going on tm this weekend if no one on here wants it
  18. Please go to your user name, and under settings - edit profile and put your location in. You will also find that you won't get people looking at your posts if you don't include your location in the title and whether or not shipping is an option.
  19. Sorry for the delay in replying - my internet and phone lines have mostly been out since Friday morning. Internet comes on and goes off again, phones are totally not working. Fish have all gone.

  21. Where do you live Ruth? As Alex said, nitrate is rarely 0 unless huge water changes are being done, or you have mass plants using it all up. Those white pages could be ammonia burn, maybe a spike overnight.
  22. Selling my nearly full 2 litre container of flourish excel. I estimate there is at least 1600 mls left as barely used it before I sold my plants. $50 Pick up Epsom, Auckland
