  1. Yeah, i've been watching them at night too. . I don't have any of the algae tables atm, what brand is best?
  2. I got some the other day and i've been feeding them the usual sinking tablets and i haven't seen any of them eating yet. Whats best to feed them? What do they like?
  3. I think it depends on which area you decide to end up in. Like if you studied the deep sea organisms, you'd need to be able to dive to do the research, but if you wanted to study the rock shore, diving isn't nessacery. These are the jobs lised on the vic site: Aquaculture Crown Research Institutes Department of Conservation Field ecology Ministry for the Environment Ministry of Fisheries Non-governmental organisations Policy analyst Researcher
  4. That one seems good. Whats the flow like tho? And the price?
  5. Haven't heard of them before. Are they external or internal? a pic would be good
  6. I'd like to get one, but the tank i need a better filter for has a fitted hood, so a hang on filter won't work
  7. good to know. Then - whats a good filter for a 30 litre tank that doesn't create too much flow?
  8. Are the stingray elite filters any good?

    going away ...

When i went away i got PetPalz to comeover to feed them. I've got cats that needed feeding too. They were very good. I brought some pill dispensers from the $2 shop and filled each up with how much food to feed.
  11. Well, i'm back from new plymouth now and came back with a fighter He looked blue in the shop's light, but at home he has some red on him and is kinda purple, when he's fully under the light. But a purple betta is awesome too! I decided to name him after grandad, so my fighter is called Gerald. Since Grandad was the reason I got this fighter (if it hadn't been his b'day, i wouldn't have gone to new plymouth) Here's Gerald: He's way more blue in real life, i'll try and get a better pic of him later
  12. Those one look interesting. Its the normal black neon that i'm looking at getting
  13. At my house i'm really lucky, from time to time there is one fly! I remember when i was 10 my parents got a real estate person over to get a quote on the house and i prodly told him that we don't get any flies (maybe i thought that would make the quote bigger...)
  14. The ones i've seen have a blue line at about the middle and below that (maybe above too) is black
  15. Thats good to hear! But whats the diff btwn normal black neons and brilliant black ones?
  16. I'm planning on getting a school of neons or black neons. I really like the look of the blak neons, but are they more hardy than neons?
  17. mine started when i was 15 i think, 18 now and 2 are fully out and 2 are kinda erupting. I think i've been lucky cos i only have had a hour of pain due to the wisdoms
  18. i've got 2 cats - Firefly and Dragonfly ( the brothers had to have matching names  ) and i kinda have another cat - Casey, he lives at a house down the road tho but he pops back here from time to time to say hi! And i've got 6 tanks full of fish I used to have lots of other pets, frogs, mice, guinea pigs and birds, but mum won't let me buy anymore pets  but somehow i managed to get another tank last month....
  19. 3rd from the back, on the bottom But since i haven't been eating on that side, if i had it out, and continued to eat on the other side it wouldn't change much. I probably won't do anything, but thanks for all your info stella, its good to hear stuff while i'm not in a dentists room (but i'm still really nervous just thinking about it) it actually makes seeing my nana this weekend seem like a piece of cake in comparison to all this dentist talk! Why i was leaning towards getting it out is that my mum had a root canal and 15 yrs later she had the tooth taken out (root canal failed ) so i figure that just incase my root canal fails, i might as well just have the tooth taken out instead of going through the root canal...
  20. Yeah, the dentist told me it was an abscess. I feel like a hipocrite, cos when my cats get into a fight i always take them to the vet, just incase they get an abscess, but i've got one and i'm not doing anything about it. What i found really annoying is that the dentist that i went to told me about my two options and went into some detail about the root canal and never even talked about getting it pulled (which is what i was leaning too) and i had to ask him to tell me about it being pulled.... I'm considering sometime going to my dads dentist cos aparently he actually listens to what dad wants. its a miracle!!! So could i actually be completely knocked out if i went to get something done?
  21. lmsmith - i'm like you about the dentist too! A little over a year ago i had one tooth causing me a lot of pain, even when i wasn't biting down. I didn't do anything about it. Then, a couple of months ago it happened again (same tooth). This time my parents made me go to the dentist (after lots of arguing and tears). Its either got to be taken out or a root canal. I'm choosing the do nothing until it hurts again option  And i can't eat on that side either...
  22. Well, i don't think i'll be able to convince my mum to take mw to waitara but i'll visit the other two *fingers crossed*
  23. Thats funny - when i click on it, it goes straight to the pic... Yay - now i get to go hunting for one in petshops
