  1. My other tanks that i could put them in are small, 50litre and a 30 litre. the tank that i want them in is 75cm long.
  2. Thats what i was thinking too. and if i got 3 pairs out of 6 of them, i've got 2 smaller tanks i could put them in temporaily if they get too agressive
  3. I haven't had much experience with cichlids, thanks for all you help What size tank suits a pair of cockatoos?
  4. Yeah, i know.... i really want the cockatoos, but if they're not going to get along happily and the bolivians and rams would then i'd go for that.
  5. Would 4 bolivian rams and 2 blue rams be safer?
  6. i hadn' really thought about aggression during breeding . What are the chances that they breed tho? And how agressive could they get? like kill each other agressive. i'd really liked the idea of having quite a few little dwarf cichlids. Or Would 2 Apistogramma cacatuoides, 2 blue rams and 2 bolivian rams work?
  7. Its a 100 litre tank. I'm thinking of having 5 or 6 Apistogramma cacatuoides and 2 blue rams (already have them) with the shark and 2 gbas.
  8. I'm thinking about getting some Apistogramma cacatuoides. But I have a few questions first. Do they dart around the tank like blue rams do? Are they compatiable with blue rams? Thanks

    Snails

The jelly things will definitly be snail eggs
  10. So the water flow isn't a concern? thats good to hear But are honey gouramis hardy?
  11. Thanks for that link. it says: I've got an internal fluval 3 in the tank, would that be too strong for them? (either type of gourami)
  12. I'm considering getting a couple pearl gourami or a couple honey gourami. Do gourami's need still water? or how much water flow can they cope with? Are honey gouramis more hardier than dwarf gouramis? Thanks
  13. Wow, thats a really cool photo too I looked last night, and the eyes still seem to be there in the same position
  14. I'm looking for a ride to and from conference in the coromandel. i'm in lower hutt Will definitely pay for a share of petrol :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  15. I got given a mop with my new scheeli killies and i put it in my tank, leaving the strand that was used to tie the mop together draping out of the tank to stop the mop from sinking. Then the next day, i put my hand on the carpet thats under the tank, and to my surprise it was wet! As it turns out, wool acts like a straw to water...
  16. My betta seems to hate yellow fish, chases my gba and a yellow molly (which i had to take out cos of the betta bothering her) but left the bronze corys and whiptails alone :-? Maybe yours hates red and blue fish??
  17. My dad made my cats one, with wood covered with carpet, works really well
  18. I've done both ways, taking the eggs away and raising them myself and let him do the raising. I think its best when they're a new breeding trio or pair its best to let them learn what to do and later on (after they've successfully raised a few lots) you could raise them (with anairstone for flow) to see what all the stages look like. If he abandons the eggs its best to step in asap.
  19. Is the filter run by an air pump? I've got 4 tanks in my bedroom and it was good until i got a sponge filter that has a tube where the bubbles come up at the top. My air pump has 2 settings so during the day i have it on high and during the night i have it on low. Perhaps you could do the same.
  20. There are YHA hostels in someplaces which have very cheap accommodation, when i stayed in auckland it was $25 per night. Wellington doesn't have that much to offer, but at the zoo you can feed a giraffe by going to the talk about them (so no extra charge to do it) In auckland theres auckland zoo & kelly tarltons. I went there at the end of nov. The penguins were sitting on eggs (one had a baby that i got to see!) and they had carpet shark capsules, they stay in the capsule for 9 months, so they could possible be there when you go there. I did a zoom tour at auckland zoo (the cheetah one) and i'd fully recommend doing one of those. New Plymouth doesn't have much there. But one thing thats near new plymouth is Stoney Oaks, i stayed the night there and i got to feed all the animals, & i could go in lots of the enclosures. its in Inglewood. Hamilton zoo is definitly worth a visit
  21. Oh no ! thats terrible! atleast your clown loaches aren't gone Once a heater cooked all my fish in the tank  so atleast you've some left
  22. The tank they're in has a sponge filter, so that can't happen. I have seen on eating So i'm sure that they're eating food behind my back. Its the algae tablets that i saw 1 eat
  23. What is everyone doing on Christmas Day or is it just another stat holiday for you? Presents, lunch & we brought a chocolate game (trivial pursuits) to play. Who will you be with? Mum, Dad & Sister Where? At home (wellington) Does your family have any special Christmas traditions? Only things like a homemade cheese cake, but i think its gross, so this yr we're getting a brought one and aparently when mum was growing up she always had the nest merangues so we're bring back that tradition. What did you ask Santa for? A mug, an ER DVD (season 11)
  24. I see mine, but i don't see mine eating. enzoom1: I went out and brought some algae tablets (Aquarian and Hikari) fingers crossed that they eat them
