    Loss of CAL/KH

um i'm not layton but i don't think it does no...
  8. na mate. the bb tank stops high nitrates but we won't get into a debate about which is better). you wouldnt't wanna rest the rocks on sand man it would be way to unstable. all rocks should be on the bottom of the tank or on a reef rack
  9. dunno how they will go with more than 1 in your tank. only reccomeded to have one as they can be nippy towards fish of the same species.
  10. nice pics. nice growth. that one is prob a millipora? dunno species sorry
  11. Rightyho. i was thinking. why not start up a thread where people can put a pic up of a fish, then talk about why they like that fish species. that way everyone can learn something new about that fish and it will hopefully be fun too! I'll start us off- SCIENTIFIC NAME: Tetraodon suvatii, COMMON NAME: Arrowhead puffer, Mekong Puffer, Pig-nosed puffer The Arrowhead puffer is a cool species of puffer and definatley not one for the community tank! Mine gets fed feeder fish on occasion but most days he just gets handfed a decent sized earthworm. He has a cool personality and is like a helecopter buzzing around the tank. I'm currently trying to find him a mate which is very difficult. Prefers slightly alkaline water, lots of sand to burrow in and a temp of about 26 degrees celcius Right who is next?
  12. yep. hot glue gun is good also but doesn't stick to glass... hot glue gun glue is safe though
  13. should note however that the hot air is not a problem if it is not overheating the water. what temp is the tank sitting at?
  14. yeah you can just get some of those computer fans and stick them in the side of your hood if you want. thats what us reefers do to cool metal halides. fans blowing onto water surface causing evaporation seem to work best but mean more water-topups. otherwise one blowing in one side, one blowing out the other side works well also

    Rocks

wouldn't reccomend volcanic rocks aye... they have nasties in them
  16. dude if i was you i would get rid of the external filter and use lots of live rock to filter your tank. coz we all say our first tank is gonna be a fish only but end up getting a couple of easy corals and will end up needing a decent skimmer. why not buy now rather than buying twice? what lighting are you using?
  17. hehe my axolotls have a similar disposition. now i make sure all the pebbles are more than 2cm big
