  1. Hi all reptile keepers. I have been thinking alot this weekend while out fishing and are seriously thinking about getting a reptile. Can any of you suggest a good site or place i can find info on keeping them. Like enclosure sizes and types, foods, maintanance and general care of lizards in nz. cheers in advance
  2. Im glad there is someone else out there that has the same problem, hehe Ive always wanted a wolf howling in front of a full moon, and also sen a awsome back piece of a stag roaring, looked so cool. Barcode on my wrist(so i can hide under watch) would be cool. Actually a real barcode so i can go to warehouse and do a price check on myself to se how much i devalue over time, lol
  3. Cool, I love English Bull Terriers too. They are such clowns. An old mate of mine had two pure breds, and when they had pups it was so tempting. Cant wait to see some pics BlueandKim
  4. Be very careful with the jewel. hey are a very pretty fish but dont have an attitude to match. Can be very aggressive. even to own kind.
  5. Probably would be easier if you stated what fish you wanted. then we could advise whether they are suitable or not rather than listing every fish available in NZ but prob not at you LSF.
  6. It amazes me the amount of B S that people come up with. Definately not getting at you HandS. But the amount of things people try tell me about the stuff i sell, well you could write a book.
  7. I manage an appliance retail store. We move and transport plasmas on a daily basis We lay plasmas on their side everyday. I mean how else do you attach the pedistal stands.. It is stated on the box not to ship on their side..This is to stop Big John the local trucky from the freight company stacking heavy objects on the boxs and breaking the glass. Simply wrap tv in plenty of blankets andi if possible , tape a piece of poly or cardboard across the screen to prevent knocks to the glass. the safest way isprob as stated in a previous post about placing against a mattress.
  8. Very true Wasp.. I bet if you stopped 100 people on New Zealand streets and asked general knowledge questions, i think youd be very surprised. I have no stats to back up my statement, just day in , day out dealing with the public. There are some very ignorant, or just plain dumb, people in our country too!!! Its just that everyone finds it funny to laugh at other peoples expence. Its not as interesting to hear people give the correct answers. Did any of that make sense.??
  9. the trouble with those fly traps mincie, is that the smell of the bait actually attracts more flies. try a fan in the room as flying insects dont like too much air movement. Ever noticed how on a windy day , the flies seem to congregate indoors. They are getting out of the wind. Seems to work ok for me.
  10. Opps, Now after reading posts properly i understand. Leeching tannins.
  11. Im curious Alan What do you use dried oak leaves for. Am i missing something???
  12. Me guessing its the birchir!!!! Am i right David
  13. Thats true but it is about 12 months or older. was browsing that other day and noticed a fair few are nolonger posting. And also there are many new ones since that was started. Start it again i say. Heres me and my partner in Sydney. Im still puzzled as to how i made that happen with the lights. And here is me at a dress up party. Next please!!!!!
  14. Any updates, pics. Go on Show us! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  15. Bugger! David beat me to it
  16. Nano = Small Co2 = Carbon Dioxide Plants utilise the carbon molecule from co2 as building blocks. We add carbon dioxide to increase plant growth,(must also have sufficiant lighting and ferts) Fish will naturally add co2 but for some of us, this is not enough.lol http://fins.actwin.com/mirror/plant-co2.html Read that for a bit of a run down HTH
  17. Now, how cool would that tank be. I want it
  18. I was facinated by these too. The painted shells are sold as fasion acessories for the crabs.(not cruel at all as the crab is free to ditch it shell if the design goes out of fashion.) I so wanted to sneak some home too.
  19. Hey david Im not trying to disagree. Justwondered how you figured they were threadfin if they were labelled as geo at the shop. I do agree that the black bar through the eye is different to my geo babies . Browsing some pics of thread fins and as adults the are a very pretty fish, imo
  20. Ha ha ryan, i sometime am the same with africans. Think i know but wait to see what everyone else says.
  21. Technically threadfin acaras are geophagus. they are eartheaters. the pics look identical to my three geoaphaegus surinemensis. How come you think they may be threadfins??? just out of curiosity??
  22. Can you keep wolf spiders?? I dont think that they make webs to catch food, just stalk them.Does this mean that i could keep them and feed them flies etc? A bit off topic now. My mate last year caught a wolf spider and a white tail and put them together in a jar. bearing in mind that the wolf spider was ten times bigger than the white tail, the whte tail killed it within seconds of attack. Scary.....
  23. the second could possibly be male but not yet ready to breed. She could be tormenting him because he not puting out. (maybe it realises that she his sister, check for red marks on her neck)lol
  24. Just out of interest. what sort of critters are people keeping. And not really meaning things like locust that are bred for reptile food, was more thinking of spiders or the likes. just curious as went on a walk today and found huge numbers of large wolf spiders and wondered if a hunting type spider can be kept and feed etc. :-?
