Ive got eggs!!!! well im excited. had one of my discus die the other day(my 1st one i ever bought) and it all started then. the dominant red turq snakeskin, stopped bullying my blue diamond. the blue diamond finally coloured fully(man he/she looks awsome) and while lying in bed the other day i saw the turq do a funny shimmy and went off to sleep dreaming that they finally realised their love for each other and paired,lol. well today as i was giving them a treat of mossie larvae i noticed the diamond wasnt moving very far. and upon inspection i finally noticed them :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: she was guarding eggs. as you can see in the pic(well sort of, sorry camera batt was flat so i sufficed with cellphone) the eggs are orange in colour, i assume that this mean they are fertile, non are clear or white, with i think is a good sign. anyway this may not seem as exciting to you all, but i think most understand the feeling of such find for first time. :oops: good, finally got that said and now im back off to stare in wonder :roll:

only thing my fish got from eating squished snails was full tummies :lol:

Is that the same stuf as Brooklands fish crumble? i have used this and found my africans love them, also a large pleco but now i have discus and they dont seem very interested in it at all i agree with it being smell, to me it smells like some sort of fish meal anyway, thats my two cents worth

update........ have recieved email from lfs where purchased and are going to send me a replacement part once i have confirmed which part it is. excelent service on their part.

there is no way im paying for anything other than postage item is not fit for intended purpose therfore should be under warranty. will let you know as i have emailed supplier i purchased it from :roll: :roll: :roll:

sorry , yes aqua one heres a pic of the leak i have turned filter off and moved valve tap to show where water is coming from, a constant trickle. and upon closer inspection it has a small split along seam of plastic.exactly where water coming from

the inlet tap is leaking at a rate of 2 dros per second, (quite alot) first time connection and having read previous filter threads to caution not to over tighten etc. the water is coming out of the tap valve(not connection to hose or filter)\\ has anyone elses done this, how do i fix it???? the other prob is parts, where do i get them if i need to replace anything. no shop sell them in my area and i purchased of trade me from a place in chch( a long way from me) please help, thanks in advance ppl

hi tgwh i just set up my new cf1200 todat, awsome filter but, same as you, leaky tap, its not comming from the thread any where but directly from the shut off valve itself, the grey pieces is this the same situ that you had, also can it only be fixed by replacement.i hope not as it my first cannister filter, first time its been connected and no one any near wanganui even sells them. any1? help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for comments. the brand is BIO-CLEAR double sponge filter got it from lfs , i also have a cosmo which is not a problem have just done what spdersweb just sugested and hey presto. must be the one you were thinking ay

hi ant yup just set this one up today, thought that may be the case but my other one has hardly ever made much noise,have tried at different depth but no much better this is the tank for either congos or wcmm, depends if i can find a heater :lol: :lol:

does anyone know how to prevent this other than reducing airflow to filter as this also reduces water flow. Ive just set up another tank(lol) and was going to use spongee as it will be bb tank, but the noise is unbearable. cheers simon

hey i agree with antwan, i got some off phil a few months ago, mine are pebas but phil sold as huallaga. they are nice fish, shame cos my female died and my male is lonely. relly wanted to breed them. anyway, that my 2c worth

agreed mincie i have a plastic rubbish bin filled with bog wood and rain water, i use water from this for my dwarf ciclid water changes, it has a colony of healthy mossie larvae and also juicy big bloodworms, not %100 sure how got there but midge flies very likely, ps. the fish wolf em down :lol: :lol: :lol:

thanks for comments all yes heather that is what im thinking too can anyone give me an idea on prices as we only have one local lfs and they dont stock any. have asked prices but im not sure whether they were realistic prices as they seemed very steep. im looking to hopefully keep under two hundred as mum wont pay anymore than that, and im planning to get new tank aswell so i got no spare dosh. the more comments the better, ie , worst , best, anything that will help will be apprciated. also where can i get these, i dont mind paying freight, i would prefer new but would also consider a tidy second hand unit cheers in advance ppls

hi all when my mother asked me today what i want for xmas ,i suggested a new filter for tank, and surprise, she said tell what sort you want. my answer was um... dont really know yet. so currently i just running a trusty old UGF i want a cannister but dont really know much bout them, come to think of it the only thing i do know is how they work. so what im grovelling for is info and suggestions the tank i will use it in is my discus bay front 200 litre any info gratefully accepted :lol: :lol: :lol:
