What kind of fish are you keeping?

I added a uv filter to tank and to date have lost no more fish.

I did exactly the same my first time.I thought what the heck can these people not afford plates. :oops:

The tank is too small.

It is amazing how people come up with different answers, according to my quick calculator the answer is 106.93 litres/23.52 uk gals./28.25 us gals. Have fun choosing. :lol:

When you say "Tangs" I assume that means Tanganyika cichlids if so I do believe they come from 7.8ph - 9ph which would be an acceptable parameter.

Green water is not harmfull to fish but is very unsightly I think the usual remedy is to black out your tank for three days however when I had the same situation I added a second filter and I have never had any problems since.

Availability,convenience,performance,noise level and of course price.I personally prefer fluval and actually managed to buy a second hand 204 for $50.

Top priority is a water change and keep doing them regularly also need some idea of water parameters ,feeding programme,temp and anything else which you think may be usefull in finding the cause.

Hi Lewis and welcome (there are a few loonies too) but I must say they are very helpful and we have lots of fun.

Wok are you walking from Napier to Hastings cos by car it is only approx. 15 mins.

No power surge that I know of and the noise seems to have gone now,I am wondering if the pump was cavitating due to plants blocking the intake pipe.
