  1. It is nice to read about people offering to help people.
  2. I have 5 auratus free to anyone who is brave enough to take them.
  3. Having re-read the post  I should have said that in my opinion the insurance company will not entertain you in respect to your tank.
  4. My guess is from my own experience that insurance will cover tank and carpet but anything else you will have to fight very hard to achieve and even if you succeed it will take time, so be frugall just in case.
  5. Kribs are hardy little fellah's if it 's eyes are bulging it could be 'popeye' usually associated with poor water quality rather than temp.
  6. If all the acessories were put inside and the tank well wrapped you should be able to get mainfreight to transport it ( might cost $100-$200 ) you can also get insurance unless they have changed their policy. In any event why not give them a ring to find out ? Especially if it is as valuable as you say.

    Hello Again

That sounds like a lot of fish for a 160l tank. MTS onthe horizon?
  8. Fancy plecs might take a likeing to plants.
  9. Malawis tend not to hide for more than a minute or two so you should be able to view them freely.

    sick oscar

I could buy the oscar from you and if so you could use the the money to buy more appropriate fish suitable to the size of your tank.
  11. Might be the thermometers you are using I only use mine as a rough guide as they are not renowned for their accuracy.
  12. Like Caryl says, you do not need test kits it just encourages you to look for things that are not there just make sure you change some of the water regularly and do not overfeed. Keep posting progress.
  13. Firstly I would be questioning the pet shops limitations. Secondly I think Wok is mean to recommend convicts (sorry Wok)
  14. yes I thought about it and decided my fish deserve the best and hence no probs with the so called guppy disease.
  15. 55gallon plastic drum in the garden above fish tank level syphons very well, fishtank to outside ground level also syphons very well. Bildge pump for other tanks. I am presently using black plastic irrigation hose (and valves) for this purpose (cheap) but would prefer something more flexible. Clear plastic hose at the usual outlets is very expensive.
  16. 225litres would be ok for your discus but with all the extras I think maybe a little overstocked.
  17. An HRV system or similar will combat the condensation problem. DIY systems are available also I think.
  18. How is your house heated? Heat pumps are supposed to be economical.
  19. My guppies are very 21st century and fully understand that it is unacceptable to eat their babies ,which means I have rather a lot at present (no complaints in that department) and I feed them bloodworm/whiteworm. I also have indian fern in the tank just in case someone forgets the rules.
  20. It is nice to read a thread with a sense of humour
