it should be very quiet. Did you buy it new? i have an old one that gets noisy but it quietens down when i purge the air by opening the bleed cap.

i would use perspex or some sort of plastic sheet if you can get some at a price you like as it will be easier to cut/shape and won't break. will also be a lot easier to rig up some suction cups.

my olds have a fire with wetback and they also had the issue of it heating only half the house. They put in a fan above the lounge/hallway door which they turn on to expel the hot air down the other end of the house, it works very well.

i have always wondered one thing about the constant water changes. How effective are they if you don't actually remove water before replacing it? Normal process is to remove say 30% of the water and replace it which would make a large difference but with a constant water change it must only dilute it slightly. Are there any actual facts on how effective it is?

i never did that at all. you should be feeding plenty and if you don't have snails now i would introduce ramshorns as the clowns will easily keep them at bay. i never had any issues on the three years or so i kept mine, i would recommend NLS cichlid formula as a food for them and also feed blood worms once a week.

clowns are commonly kept with africans world wide, I have seen many members of various international forums doing it. I did it and they did very well, up to you i think.

it looks to me like it would be plenty. that tank will only be around 500L

i have had canisters off over night or more due to power outages or just forgetting to plug the filter back in and never had an issue. I also completely wash out my filters when i clean them which is a big "no no" in some eyes but again, never had any issues doing it.

i have a 2.0x0.45x0.45 and it is great for the tropheus and other tangs. It won't be any good for fronts or maybe adult empress but sweet for any african up to 8 inches i think.

i have found the aqua one CF's to be very quiet when new, they tend to get louder as they wear the impellor. I replaced an impellor in an old CF and it was very quiet again. As long as you prime them properly they are very quiet.
