I have a mustard coloured algae appearing in my new african tank. could this be right? I have only ever had BBA in my community tank so no experience with the light brown coloured gunge. Is it brown algae? It is on the filter & heater so not just on stone. also those are 3 of the 6 fryeri i got from Dan.
  4. i definately needs to be attached, the magnet spins & that white part has two points on it that stop the magnet spinning around the shaft. with it off the magnet spins but the central shaft & prop doesnt. the small shaft in the middle needs to be securely fixed to the broken white part & is too small to glue.
  5. Anyone got one of these lying around? I need one of these filter propellers. As you can see it is broken, the white top supposed to be joined to the rest of it. It is out of a shark 400L/H our filter but i found that the Micron 200L/H filter had an identical part which is now being used. Murphy's luck now i need to use the micron filter too. the magnet is 16mm long by 12mm dia. You can PM me to sort a deal

in my area the tap water is very hard so my community tank that I have had for about 18 months has a Ph of 7.5 or so. my african tank has a ph of around 7.9 so these two water conditions certainly are not at either end of the spectrum.
  7. I have just been bittin by that bug! Had 3 last week, now nine......

I have just looked at ryan jurys post selling some of his stock. it looks to me that he had clown loaches with africans. Is this correct? Is this possible? Anyone else done that? I ask as they have different water conditions recommended, I want to do this to.
  10. i have pearl gauramis in a community tank that eat bloodworms & flake every day. I use Kongs bloodworms that i get from my LFS. I only feed them once a day & i have never had problems with water quality & have had very few fish get sick at all.

  19. I have added 6 fryeri juveniles & the moment I added the bag the yellows have been extremely active & not hiding at all. they must have felt scared as they did not have a large enough group to be safe.
