  1. are there any other fish in your tank that chase them down there, maybe angels? My gourami are always at the top, even with persuant angels.
  2. feed them up on blood worms, thats what sets my pair off. If you want the fries to grow I suggest removing the parents as mine always eat the eggs after two days.
  3. an air pump agetates the water surface which is what creates the oxygen in the water. the air out of the pump isn't in the water long enough to make much difference. as far as i'm aware all fish need oxygen in the water. I personally don't have an air pump as one of the filters I have running in my tank is a wet dry system which oxygenates the water.
  4. that couldnt be some kind of tape worm or similar could it?
  5. im sure you will be lucky & get fries!
  6. i study my angels alot, the female lays every month or so but have never noticed a buldge so will look a bit harder. I would notice the bulge as my wife has a bump due to being 10 weeks from due.
  7. in my opinion, looking at the picture the glass seems to be thicker than 6mm.
  8. "80K tank" auction in the tank section a dummy auction to advertise the "frontosas with free tank" auction that is in the fish section. Guess you lot figured that, took me a couple of minutes to think it through.
  9. i have pearl gourami, they pretty much hang around the top of the tank like the angels & very rarely go to the bottom. i don't have anything special for them & they are quite happy.
  10. here's my sunsun tank http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/smidey ... 17927.html I think they are excellent. the hood is aluminium so is strong & durable, the filter is ok. I have added a canister as well & recommend doing that. the hood has rebates & cabinet already has holes for plumbing of a canister. I've had mine about a year & am very impressed.
  11. I used about 6 rocks from the beach in my freshwater tank. I used budget bleach then rinsed them throughly. I had no problems at all.
  12. i don't agree with the above. my angels have grown from small fish to almost 3 inches long in their current tank & have been in this tank for over a year. the majority of the time the markings are faint. they darken up when they are being agressive with each other of when they are laying eggs. they don't darken up when they are chasing the other fish in the tank, only each other.

    CF1200

When I need to prime my cf1000 I simply blow into the out let which pushes the water into the tank, then suck which brings the water from the tank into the canister, the water only needs to be partly up the outlet to turn the unit on & for it to work instantely.

    CF1200

I have a cf1000 & have never had any air bubbles going through the outlet after two or three seconds after it starts to run. the bioballs supplied with the filter wont trap air, niether will the ceramic bio rings. it sounds to me that there may be a small air leak somewhere i would reconnect all the pipes to the connectors etc & see if that changes anything.
  16. like anything for sale, its worth what someone is willing to pay. I will start the bidding with a lazy $5
  17. ill give it a go, should be good for a giggle if nothing else i spose.
  18. Hi all, i have a 200L freshwater tropical community tank. I have just filled a two foot trial tank for african cichlids. every week I do a water change on the 200L tank & trim back the cabomba that grows so fast. can i feed this to the afrikans as they are green matter feeders?
  19. I dont know a great deal about glass but have had a bit of experience with it. Toughened is quite strong but very brittle on the edges & it will also curve if forced. It will have to be drilled before being toughened. Think it may be better to discuss with a glazier first.
  20. not sure about where to get them down there but they are made up here in whangarei.

    SunSun brand?

i have a 1000mm sunsun tank for freshwater tropical. they are basically the same as an Aqua one tank. the main difference is the sunsun hood is made from aluminium instead of plastic. they have a hood wet dry filter system. other than that they are a few peices of glass siliconed together to make a tank. the hood has rebates in the back of it for plumbing of canister filters to. not too much more to explain.
  22. We flee bombed our place recently. I covered my tank with a sheet folded in half so it was two layers covering the tank & no problems at all.
  23. i don't think sandstone would, it has a good wear rate for paving etc.
