    Fish Lists

It seems to me that alot of people here know what is on the fish lists. are these available to view by anyone or do you need to know someone to get a copy. The main reason i ask this is for someone like me who is new to africans has no idea of what has been brought into NZ let alone what is currenly available from suppliers.
  5. as kribcrazy has said the fryeri are from Dan. the yellows were breed up here & are available at Northland aquarium & pet centre.
  6. thats sandstone tiles that had a meeting with my hammer. not sure if they up the PH.

    Barrys tank

thats awesome! i think i have seen that tank up close, does it belong to the lady that sells jebo gear on trademe? & does barry work at a coral importers?
  8. You are a freak or maybe just a little loopy  excuse the pun but had to do it!
  9. i do about 40% changes every week on both african & community tanks although I did a 85% water change last weekend by mistake. I put the syphon in the tank & pipe out the window & left it as it takes a while to syphon 80L. I went off to rinse the wet/dry filter pads, got talking to my son about something then realised what was still happening. Rushed back to find my two large angels in just enough water to cover their heads. Phew disaster diverted.
  10. i had a turtle in a community tank for a while. you need really good filtration as the turtles are dirty little critter & put alot of urine & faeces into the water which can create water quality probs. the turtle will also eat what ever he can.
  11. well done african, great setup & pics not bad!
  12. mine only comes out to eat his pellets, thats all i see mine
  13. thank you both. I am very pleased with the quality although the should be really good as the camera used was a canon 400DSLR (digital SLR) which cost about $1400 for body only.
  14. Hi all, i just wanted to share some pics of my african juvies one of my fryeri starting to colour another fryeri Labido another labido
  15. I had two pairs in one tank. they adopted an end of the tank each as their own then met in the middle to scrap & returned to each end when finished. I sold mine back to my LFS after a while as the fighting got too serious. they grew up together from hatching & only started to scrap after they paired off & layed the first batch of eggs.
  16. there must be a link between keeping nice fish (africans) & driving cool old cars. Here's my VK wagon, 300hp 4 spd Then i got married & had a family so had to sell it & get a family car. So i bought a VN SS that looks standard on the outside except for 17in rims, 400hp & 16 in rims don't fit over the 13" wilwood discs.
  17. i feel a new thread of auzzie jokes coming on..... Q: Wat do you call three auzzies in a huddle? A: A thickett!
  18. this one was one of about 40 africans that the store got in, so it wsn't a special delivery either. this one wasn't the best quality either, no where near as good as the 3 i got from the other store which i just found out are actually a locals spawn.
  19. marbles & granites are pourous & obsorb everything.
  20. Hi all, I am curious of what price stores sell labido yellows for in other cities. I initially purchased 3 for $15 each. Ordered one from another store & they wanted $32. no difference in the fish, same size (about 2").
  21. he's the best we've got, maybe the rest of em could benefit from a bit of canon fire?
  22. thats fine, i do realise why you did it. the first one i ever saw made that way was my cousins one, he used it to fire a tennis ball down the paddock for his hyper active hunting dog.
  23. hmm, that surprised me being edited like that.
  24. that sounds a bit steep, i made a spud gun for under $60 that had a metre of 80mm pipe, a reducer from 150 to 80mm & a screw on end cap. combine a (EDIT - MOD, Alan, bit dangerous for the young ones to know. Sorry) & lemons launched 200m.
  25. i was planning alsorts of tanks, discus mainly but was bored with my year old community tank. wanted a change & decided that i would go to my LPS & have a look. they ahd just moved to a new premises & revamped their tanks. they had alot of africans in a 3 footer & that was it. totally hooked on em!
