  1. im not surprised that is in the oddball category, that is bizarre looking!
  2. im also very impatient with new stuff... gotta have it now!
  3. out of the six two are very dark & 4 are very light all with egg spots. 2 males & 4 females sounds like a good mix to me, anyone agree? It would have to be better than 4 males & 2 females which i'm sure would cause some serious conflict.
  4. Hi all, here is a pic of two of my 6 fryeri juveniles. Obviously when older these juvies will either be blue or brown, male or female. will the lighter or darker juvie be male?
  5. my angels eat their eggs on the second day after laying them so i would remove my angels if i want fries. you should turn the external filter once the fries are free swimming so they don't get sucked up.
  6. Hi all, i don't think my large clown loach is sick but he has a white nose. it looks very odd, I put him in my african tank for a few days to see how the two species would get along. He went back into the community two days ago, shortly after I noticed he had a white nose. anyone else seen this? His behaviour has not changed at all.
  7. you're right Dan, i am & will be feeding spiulina etc with a small feed of blood worms once a week or fortnight. this was just a debate & question thread to see what others were doing. the fryeri are getting a little colour now.
  8. i don't know anything about pacus except that they look like piranhas
  9. here's a link to freshwests amazon thread of a while ago. this is the benchmark of amazon tanks, good luck matching it! http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/1-vt10 ... sc&start=0
  10. i thought piranhas were elegal in NZ, pacus would be the other option as look alikes

    hey everyone

hi there from the very wet north
  12. yes, i had the same prob with my wife..... Me: But dear, we can't leave those angels in that small tank! We'll have to sell them........... Magic, big tank next week!
  13. You don't need to stay away from them just perpare to get a new setup as they get bigger. I started with a 11/2 foot tank & had 4 angels that were about the size of the new 20c piece. they grew so i got their current 1000mm tank. they grew some more & now i only have two as they paired off & became to agressive. it has been great having them & watching them grow & its a great excuse to upgrade your gear.
  14. Hi ethan44 A) I have angels, they are 18 months old & now are very large & kinda out growing there 200L tank (1000mm) B) I washed my beach sand in a large plastic container by turning the hose on full for overflowing the tub while stirring the sand with my hands for about an hour. C) Your plants will do better with some fertiliser but 15 kg i think will almost fill your whole tank.
  15. i made a pipe cleaner for my canister piping. got a bottle brush, cut the plastic handle off. got about 2m of 27KG fishing line, tied it to the now shortened handle end of bottle brush. attached two large swivels to other end of fishing line so they fall through the canister piping so I can pull it through to clean inside of pipes. works well for me, what d others clean their piping with?
  16. how bout putting all the pants you want to keep into another container while the fish clean up whats left

  21. i dont know at all, someone else might
  22. i had to weight my swamp kauri down for two weeks before it would stay down.
  23. technically i think it is possible, practically it would be a real task. if the space above the water was a vacume then the water may not flow out, kinda like putting a straw into the water, capping the top with your finger & pulling it out, the water won't fall out until air gets to the top.
  24. market value is what people will pay for em. if the supplier thinks they can get more coin for em they try. the stores need to regulate their buy prices to keep things even.
  25. when i did a flea bomb it put a blanket over my tanks & didnt have any probems.
