    Hey Hey

hi fishtv. i used sand from the store but washed it throughly before using it & had no problems.
  3. Hi all, I previously worked for a granite & marble company. I have quite alot of sandstone & limestone tiles. I was thinking about using these to create the hiding places for my new african tank. Does anyone know if they will be ok for the water conditions, all opinoins welcome
  4. soon enough they will all be large & will harrass every other fish that swims at their level

    Hi all

welcome, im sure you will help others & others will help you.
  6. I had a snake neck in my community tank, the info i got with him said that they do not spend much time when they are young under the light but will do it more & more as they get older.
  7. i do a 30% change every week on my 200L tank, often use the hose or bucket but never try to warm it up at all. surely the water cools off at night in the wild?
  8. from my personal experiences it is better to have a heater in each end, I have two 150w heaters in my 200L tank. it heats the water more evenly.
  9. I must have the normal ones, however I do have 2 crazy skunk loaches, they almost bury themselves on their side under my swamp kauri
  10. I also was amazed at the size of my cf1000, going from an internal/spraybar system to all that plumbing, make sure you dont put the blocking jointer in the middle of the spraybar piping
  11. i have never seen my clowns do that, I have had them for over a year.
  12. the pipes on my canister are clear pvc pipes alot like the beer tap plumbing pipes (only prob is that no beer comes through mine). Also a new plumbing product called fusiotherm (or something like it) is to very similar. Is that what you were meaning?

    Tank update

I had two 150w heaters verticle in my 200L tank, when I put them on a 60' angle I found that the water temp rose & had to turn the thermostat down
  17. Nice! The only way to confirm what sex they are is the egg depositing tube, which on the female is much larger than the tube of the male.

    New tank

I have a Sunsun 200L "with the filter in the hood thingy". I added a CF1000 & it made the water so clear that the fish look like they are floating in mid air. I also use the hood filter as well. Canister is in the cupboard below, better there as the small noise is kept mostly in the cabinet. with the bail of filter wool on top i cannot hear it outside the cabinet.
  19. just to throw another thought into the pot, my ph in my community tank is 7.5 & has been for months. the fish have adjusted
  20. thanks all, i must have the standard small compartment. i have filter wool for my hood & canister filters, will this be ok? & i guess the back area will be ok for ceramic noodles?

    Trial Tank

Hi all, I am about to setup a two foot tank for africans. before you all tell me that it is not big enough etc, i am going to do this as a starter for 200L tank. im just not sure i want to get rid of my community tank yet so if i do not dedicate it to africans i will sell the fish back to the shop before they get too big. the tank i have is 24"Lx15"Hx12"D. how many small africans should i put in there? I will use aragonite as a substrate for slate pilled up to create hidding places. I understand that the PH needs to be 7.5+, what temp should it be? Any other info would be appreciated
