  1. maybe poss to get a genetic male thats female or something along those lines.
  2. most likely hj your intimidating the skink or trying to hold onto it maybe stressing it. I like to think all animals/herps dont forget things. So best to be calm but in control at the same time letting them do what they do, and after a while they may end up with a bit of respect for you  blues seem to like to walk all over you, not so much be held still in your hand, they shouldnt hiss all that much really, can be agro things but generally laid back chaps. Is my understanding they hiss to wear of an intruder/threat or if they get a fright etc. all 3 lizards are amazing, blue tongues i find easier care, i think the dragons are a lil more work but maybe more fascinating, could watch them chasing down and chomping back food all day
  3. i think exo terras biggest tank is 900mm. vetter off with something 1200mm + blue tongues are very easy care. When i had a group of babies as soon as i would open the tank door, they would be over to have a nosey then climb out up my arm. Very confident from a young age, they dnt seem to get fazed by much. i dont try tame my reptiles as i like to let them be a natural/wild as possible even if they're in an enclosure. beardies are neat but need more livefood and imo best to only handle when you need to. they can be a bit tempramental but otherwise fairly hardy most of the time.
  4. fascinating i found a big moth floating in a trough today currently on bench drying out. any tips on preserving it?
  5. i suspect its possible but the frogs ive seen around do seem to be either one species or the other. i tried to bred southerns with aurea and had them doing everything accept laying eggs. maybe just not time but within a day of getting rid of the southern males and adding more aurea i had fertile spawn.
  6. interesting about not getting enough uv rays. i just thought thats what southern bells looked like, wheras the aurea have more defined markings and no line on back. in regards to the green line it seems to also depend on what camo the bell wants to show whether or not this will even be visible. so maybe those aussies just need to be more observant
  7. i would lean toward southern bell but as repto said hard to tell when just morphed
  8. he said hello, and gave me a vegemite sandwich
  9. hope so, I hadnt considered them. will keep a closer eye on them
  10. any idea what these hairy 10mm caterpillar like bugs are? appear to have 6 legs at the front only.
  11. very nice fish, gota love the red
  12. awesome......my kinda fun
  13. i wonder if prunes or some sort of smooth fruit may help free up the motions........cooking oil is another i recall being used but dont try any of the above without getting confirmation as i maybe wrong. maybe someone else has a better idea....... .
  14. melamine works out approx $200 more if compared to say mdf per unit 1200x600x600 bunnings have all the panels pre cut for memory. . when you factor in extra work with mdf and paint/sealer + cost its not much more and melamine looks great and easy to clean i use mdf as dont mind the extra work...rather enjoy making them just finding the time can be hard.. selleys pva wood glue is great stuff. non toxic to. just seal over the lot with water based polyurethane and should be all good. i used a non toxic paint on pond liner for the last unit i made (bunnings)...almost no fumes so just a day or 2 to dry out good and proper and should be safe for the new inhabitants.. polyurethane needs drying for a good week or 2 ultimately. what ever you use if built well then should last and look the part
  15. hows he doing now? is he fat like he has a full stomach or not really....

  20. im not saying im not for the import of new stock and or species. i just dont see the need to complain about what we dont have, or see the need for what seems the negative attitude a few have towards the way things are at present. it can only get better and it will, patience grass hopper
