  1. Above tadpole morphed a week/2 back. Its a new strain. Has a yellow back leg.....Legcistic Aurea  . Standard Green frog from the same batch to the right. Should be interesting to see if colour changes. Seems to be changing, as was mainly just the back leg that was yellow when first morphed.
  2. looks like a yawn, must of been a big day nice looking skink.
  3. pretty cool spider, i want to see it fishing
  4. were you at the comedy gala thing last night?
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vgfNbhu2wY spider does the peace sign at the end to say thanks
  6. nice one, is the abdomen a reddish colour, or just the photo? i finally caught mine out earlier, just uploading the vid
  7. Could bump temp up to 22C. In saying that though, it sounds like something else is wrong. As i have some well below 18C that are still rather active. They dont seem to grow much below 16-18C but should still be reasonably active. Lack of water changes will stunt growth to.
  8. Most websites say distributed throughout NZ
  9. I thought the black was abit out of place. Will be interesting to see how they turn out. New lipstick strain maybe
  10. maybe just sorting out the hierarchy (sp?). Keep an eye on them though. i had a blue tongue pair and babies together all summer, then a couple of weeks before i sold the pair they started getting really agro towards each other. .. I couldnt work it out, either trying to breed again or just one of those things. . . i separated them in the end. And the female was the main aggressor, always the way
  11. The spider has way more patience than me Supasi - was found in a very old shed when a mate was cleanign up. I use to find them in old willow trees under the rotten bark to. Often see there holes in the willows with a bit of web around it, but inticing them out is not easy. Ill let you know if i get offered anymore.
  12. yep bummer why do you think the other tadpoles wont morph? just developing to slowly or.. I prefer the golden bells. Not so warty lol. Also can hand feed them (probably can southerns to) once they get use to you, and or get really hungry
  13. aliens have landed theyre amazing, almost see through with funny little black lips
  14. Tunnel web doing well. Hardly see it but Ive cut back on the food and its pimped out its web in the last few days. and most mornings its waiting for something to go walking past.. Disappears as soon as I open the container so no feeding footage yet 8)
  15. I remember hearing on the radio something along the lines of Gisborne roaches were in huge numbers in Blenheim a year or 2 ago.
  16. Do you still have a hot and cold end?
  17. Oh cool. I aim for 35C for there basking rock. 30C would be minimum i think....? Really want a hot and cold end, night time temp could be down to 15C, 20 is probably good and safe for youngins
  18. Yes it is getting a bit full of hardware. Separate categories for livestock sounds good. And change it to reptiles and amphibians while theyre at it. Reptiles and turtles is a bit mucked up if you ask me
  19. I prefer emitters myself. Red light is suppose to be invisible but i dont beleave it to be 100% (thats just me though) Depends on the size and setup of terrarium? Thats pretty hot to. Too hot for whistlers. 22-26C I find a good temp for bells (aurea). Any higher theyl be bouncing off the walls...literally lol and more demanding on food and or more keen to eat each other
  20. Correct Phoenix, the colour is bad news for a frog that normally has awesome camouflage. They maybe more prone to getting sunburnt and so on but in general theyre very hardy i find. Or atleast my albinos are. I cant find anything to back up leucism is caused by a dominant gene. Not alot to back up its even just a gene that causes it. One article ive read claims that some animals born leucistic outgrow the condition as they mature. Heres the link to the article http://zoology.suite101.com/article.cfm ... te_animals. My guess is that it is a recessive gene just like the albinos. But maybe not as Alan has said, if its genetics were simple then one would expect more to be around.. I would love to breed them to try and get a better understanding.
