  1. Special names for a special turtle  Id call it Cullen
  2. weird, could be low end temps? but then if the rest looked ok who knows. maybe just one of those things..
  3. very nice healthy looking frogs the one in the second pic looks to be croaking?
  4. not quite all day, ive only got about 5000 pics from the last 6months
  5. "he's like a fart in the wind" lol I never handle them unless i have to (rubber gloves on preferably, and wet). If you dont give them a fright they normally just sit there. Possibly thinking you wont see them unless they move?, then when you least expect it they jump. Im always lerking around the place and if i see something i like, i cant help but grab the camera. Good excuse to stop doing work
  6. Hoping they dont run out of steam and need repotting anytime soon. But it wouldnt surprise me as theyre still in the small pots they came in Not really, havent got any where to put it, but thanks all the same
  7. whistling tree frog setup, pic on left taken 31 Jan, pic on the right today (10weeks later)
  8. yea i saw that on tv atleast 6months maybe even a year or 2 ago...still pretty cool. Someone buy me one i deserve it
  9. sweet in that case i'll stick with the 23rd december
  10. do we get any hints as to when they last shed? If they came out of a tank then may be due for a shed anytime soon...may have to rethink my guesstimate. But not likely going into winter as wont be doing much growing now. December is about when mine use to shed. basically after theyve come out of brumation and had a couple of months in the sun, started to eat like theres no tomorrow etc
  11. next time they shed they should be looking better, may not shed until summer now. about 23 december is my guess, hard to say though.
  12. cant you pics on the left arnt they?
  13. apparently name derived from them sliding into the water quick smart when disturbed. nothing to worry about, just what most will do. As repto said its their natural instinct. I wouldnt put my hand in the water, food and not giving them a fright may help to tame them. But with the cooler weather they will be less likely to care about food. not really a pet for taming imo.
  14. interesting, i always assumed there would be less oxygen than that coming out of us. all good info cheers all
  15. Anyone know how much driftwood lowers the ph? Something ive always been curious of, but failed to look into  just wonder if it may aid in soft shell problems....if so or maybe in general it maybe a good idea to add some bird grit or something to the filter? Bare bottom is the best bet, also having a soft/smooth ramp. Beads of silicon work ok. i dont like the look of those ramps with glass steps.
  16. Nope, i dont know anyone off the top of my head. I remember a guy who use to put oxygen shells in with them..that seems a bit dodgy though.
  17. Just curious about the benefits of adding oxygen to fish when sending them. Seems overkill to me or is it of great benefit? Or is 1/3 water and 2/3 air all good... Also any idea on costs to get a oxygen tank setup etc? Cheers
  18. I try not to count anymore but they can easily eat upto 50 in a sitting , thats probably over doing it though. I feed them twice a day still and theyre 6months now. I should separate them, it has been a good experiment though. Yesterday one tried bite the others bulgy bit on its neck while it was eating. First time ive seen any aggression between them. Probably why one was holding back a bit today. I dont normally feed them like that though. Was just the easiest way while holding the camera in one hand. Normally i chuck a cricket to one then the other etc. So they both get pretty much the same. They dont miss much theyre little monsters
  19. Just thought id share a vid of a couple of young coastal beardies having their morning feed. They buzz me out me how alert they are, even at a lower temp then what i keep inlands at. Suposibly hard to tame but I think theyre just too smart for their own good I like the challenge and they seem to be getting more and more tame by the week. excuse the frogs grunting in the back ground, theyre all talk no action atm  . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMgACWOhtSM
  20. Nice little interview. Well done to Donna, my hat goes off to you
