  1. wow you must be a natural to handle that. highly dangerous those snakes :nilly: nice pics, other than the one of the rat, you could have kept that to yourself  lol
  2. things are not always what they seem on the interweb. thanks for the trade though. im leaving on a jet plane, dont know when ill be back again.
  3. Maybe Zayne is just trying to wind us up, in a slightly out there way. Maybe retaliation for my snake.....eel thread  Anyway, if your not joking it would be best to stop making excuses for the dog and do something proactive about it.
  4. I doubt the dog would be bringing the chicken inside if it knew it was going to get in trouble, no dog should just kill, attack any other animal. . Once a dog gets a taste for blood, especially chickens she's all on. Possible to correct with good training though. Otherwise time to separate. Still need to address the dog though, what if its another dog, someones cat, maybe a toddler next time. If it happens your responsible.
  5. heres some pics of the ones i saw today. great camouflage. probably uplands, but found a redfin in the same area, and crans may also frequent that river.
  6. how did the chicken cross the road
  7. Please call me Insect if you like lol  I will do that at some stage for sure.
  8. nice one. must of been a good day for it. i spent an hour or so on the edge of a river today. saw lots of baby fish, a male redfin and a few upland bullies. came home with a male & 2 females regards to temp of water. in the river it was amazing the little currents and warm rocks under the water in parts. was so much variance in temp (took thermometer and temp gun, forgot to use them  ). was almost like someone was taking a slash upstream
  9. Thanks Sam. Yeah the filter doesnt look right, i almost took it out last night but it does make nice little bubbles lol Im thinking in a couple of weeks i may just take the filter out. Koura may not like that to much? but they can go in another tank if need be. Shrimp should be ok with out a filter if i keep ontop of the water changes eh?
  10. chucked this little tank together recently. (wood added tonight etc, rock weighing it down for now) should of put an undergravel filter in but oh well. may rip it apart yet as i already have other ideas  anyway currently home to, 3 shrimp 2 small koura (theyre a laugh buldozing piles of gravel lol) which will probably be moved into the 4footer that cycling atm anyone know if the koura are likely to eat the shrimp if i leave them in there, so far so good but?
  11. Ccanon seems the go huh. i recently purchased a 550D which came with 18-55mm & 55-250mm. im still very much figuring out the basics, loving it though. Will be nice to get a macro lens soonish. Closeups are key, its so nice to be able to see the finer details of the subject eh. Japan sounds and looks crazy, I will have to visit there someday.
  12. amaaaaazing, they just keep getting better what sort of camera and lens do you use if you dont mind me asking?
  13. so cool. must be a weird life trying to look like a stick all day.
  14. ok its a long finned eel............................................................snake
  15. :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: definitely a snake
  16. Dwarf Galaxias arnt listed as whitebait from what i can tell. Yep best to do lots of research first so ive found, otherwise easy to muddle up some species. no point adding fish to an aqaurium that arnt suitable. I take Stella's book with me if checking out a stream, its come in handy a couple of times already.
  17. overnight is pretty much the only decent way, preferably in polybox and maybe even with cold pack. may cook the axie at this time of year especially if help up for a day or more. nzpost are getting more and more anti live goods. after all their terms state something along the lines of live animals are fobidden items. even some courier's are reluctant. had a postie trying to tell me its illegal to send live by the post a while back, not sure if thats reality though. same day service would be great but overnight does the trick.
  18. short clip can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/user/nzexotics
  19. tried to hold it but was to slippery. think it had white or maybe pink underneath, could be wrong though, only caught a glimpse. do they vary or? amazing we thing, nice little bite on it to
  20. yep, thats a snake alright. venemous but only in the breeding season, make sure you have grills covering the drains, theyre known to pop up in the toilet if you dont.
