Are you sure the pet shop wasnt just selling whistling tree frog tadpoles? if not could just be small bell tadpoles. inadequate conditions, diet, even onset of winter/days getting shorter may bring forward the morphing. tadpoles seem very good at adapting yet still so fragile. Ive found growing them slower often yields bigger tadpoles = bigger morphs. May take a month or even 3 longer (maybe more depending on season) outdoors but given the bigger morph size i think you would save atleast that in growing time as apposed to if they had morphed earlier and you'd fed them heaps of livefood since (saves alot of food getting bigger morphs ) hope that makes sense. to answer your question. if water temp is below 20C development will slow, below 18C i think it stops. outdoors is a bit different, temps will vary but as long as they get some sun they should be alrite. summers is here so still plenty of time for them to morph.

can always replace seals or just use as a cabinet. the above is a fridge freezer, i use both areas as incubators. bit dodgy the way I have the bulbs mounted. may refit the thing at some stage.

i could upload a close up of the fan i took but i thought the full pic would show enough, even with it being so hi tech :lol: its amazing what you can make at home. cost about $30 for thermostat, $10 light and wire. $6 fan + $30 adjustable power adapter. = $86 was a free fridge. made vents/windows in doors with grinder. that was fun, almost set fire to the fridge as you do. fly mesh in doors replaces the plastic door bit inside.

did wonder if she thought yum, or oh crap not another threat.

:facepalm: shes got a fan mate, the bag isnt for fish. fan at top could improve. better thermostat, heat cable safer and better spread (light at the bottom would be better too) would like to make another but no use really

thats been going hitech for about 4years now started off as a locust enclosure. works great as an incubator. edit, gave it the big upgrade last year and put the fan in. got to love technology and its progression :lol:

yeah only giving her 3ml twice a day. not enough or she be rite? bath once a day for 5mins or so.

Some may call it the stinkcubator. But its kiwi as with my fish bag and it even works :lol:

just checked and she laid an egg infront of my eyes, i think we had a moment :lol: otherwise, been pretty much just sitting, doing a pushing motion every now and again. glad she just dropped another as was starting to worry. little bit of yoke/urate stuff prior to this egg. similar to the yellow thing i smeared earlier on. thats 15 egg total i think. sister laid 18 and i didnt even pic up she had eggs/was fat. so picking 22-24 in this girl, hopefully no more.

Concurrent egg yolk peritonitis seems to fit. good eggs bad eggs (one looks ok, maye just dehydrated).

been a mixed bag. first egg looks the best. last one laid (today) probably next best.

the eggs smell like mice? :-? just separated the good loooking eggs from the bad, see if that changes anything. have definitely noticed this smell in the past, maybe from the sisters eggs last year.... only one egg dropped today, doesnt look any different.

heres an average to good sized bell frog tadpole.

pond is much much better than any tank in a shop or home for that matter. how bigs big though?? they can easily reach 8cm, wouldnt be surprised if close to 10cm. morphs approx between 1.2cm -2.5cm so big variance there too

normally i try introduce male, let them do the deed then separate. = minimal stress above wasnt yielding any success, left male with her for a good 2weeks. do wonder if the male just gave her too much attention. few things to try out different next time. even just putting her on some sand a few weeks back may of helped. just put my inland on sand for the first the time, she dug some nice caves instantly and i didnt even think she had eggs just yet.

She's been growing realtively slow but consistant I thought. She's 47cm, not huge for a 3y/o but not a bad size to breed. In saying that I did notice a bit of a growth spurt in past few months, tail almost appears to be getting slight kinks, sort of looks dehydrated......has grown. Lack of calcium to assist eggs and growth maybe....

p.s i did wonder if that other one that has been autopsied has been frozen prior. even the fats pads look different.

yep this the sister of the one i did an autopsy on last year. mealworms, crickets, locusts, roaches and slaters, moths etc as a treat. in the last year she would have had mealworms only 2/3times. (i went abit anti on them after last years one passed) easterns seem to love the veges, eat alot more than my inlands. damage may of been done when younger. :dunno:

not normal at all. she hasnt even bothered digging :roll: been laying eggs down by the water bowl even though has nice damp sand down the other end of tank. shes going through the pushing motions still, will leave her to it or until she stops laying. almost like she laid through the night, turned light off at midnight and thought that may stop progress but there was 4 more eggs in tank this morning at 7am. not fussed about the eggs, just hoping she will drop them all and start to eat again, will be very happy to have her alive at the end of this.

Ive got a canon powershot A590 IS (8.0mega pixel) Cost appx $240 about 6-12months ago, not sure if even still on shelf. no doubt could get something even better for $200 now. Takes amazing photos for what it is.
