  1. Good on you Anthony - don't let them get away with any lame excuses!
  2. You have a month to make it impressive, and as Caryl says size does not matter, my largest freshwater tank is 64l, the rest are smaller.
  3. It would appear so http://www.inscape.net.nz/products/top-indoor-plants/ Bottom right first page - you can probably pick one up as a baby houseplant from the supermarket or garden centre.
  4. Decide on a day when most can participate Tell them that you are going to visit their tanks Arrange a route that does not double back on itself and offer car pooling from the first stop Only offer food and drinks at the last stop
  5. This month we have an tour of the National Aquarium, we will be starting at the meeting at 6.30pm this month so that the lights do not go out on us! We will also be having an auction after the tour - bring any fishy stuff you wish to sell. Tea/Coffee and bikkies provided. All welcome.
  6. Try now Sophia - you just log in on the main site, you do not have to click through from the Fishroom anymore. If you are still logged in from before log out and log in again.
  7. I hope you have beer for Jim... And I can tell you he likes lots of fried onions with his BBQ'd meat.
  8. Sometimes they do not split and just grow as big as the parents - they are pretty self sufficient from a couple of tiny leaves and usually survive quite well if knocked off. I have some good sized plantlets hanging off the sides of leaves still attached to the mother plant and only yank them off it there are too many of them or I want to put them somewhere else.
  9. You may be better finding out what is causing the green water rather than trying to fix it by other means, has anything changed in your setup over the last few weeks that may be contributing to it such as added lighting or changing lamps, adding or removing fish or plants, type or amount of food, fertilisers?

  11. Must be all the flash content! You seem to have a good eye with the camera.
  12. Are you studying photography at school Joe? http://www.canon.co.nz/EYEcon They also do Photo5 which is open entry don't think the comp is running yet - http://www.canon.co.nz/en-nz/worldofeos ... photo52011
  13. I remember reading somewhere when I was doing a bit of hunting of images for these for someone's tee shirt prints that they were raked out of streams and thrown on the fields for fertiliser
  14. Waikato arranged their tank crawl at conference after dark so that we could get some nice tank shots.
  15. Err... this is Ira you are talking about, of course he immediately assumes the most inappropriate use for a word! Are you a student zeebee - you can buy it from www.lapshop.co.nz at student rates (waits for Ira to comment on name of shop...)

    The What's Up? thread.

Nice eerie pic Sam. It is fine here today - first time all week, but it is supposed to turn to custard later.
  19. Felt it here too - went on for ages NZST: Tuesday, July 3 2012 at 10:36:12 pm Intensity: moderate Depth: 257 km Magnitude: 6.5 Location: 60 km south-west of Opunake
  20. If you have a remote flash that you set up over the top of the tank rather than mounted on top of the camera you will not get as many reflections, you can also obscure all the other light sources in the room, either by turning them off or shielding the tank from them with dark boards to stop the reflections.
  21. So no driftwood hunting then?
  22. Nice pics Joe - you are going to have to start selling some of them as desktop backgrounds to fund your fishy addictions..
