  1. i have 7 pearl danios and 1 bristlenose in mine. the danios are always zipping around
  2. mine, being very small, is currently living with a black ghost knife, a pleco, 3 BN's and 10 cories. as soon as i get my spare 2 tanks fixed, he will be in a tank by himself.
  3. oh, and hubby saw the plecos at the national aquarium and 40cm would have been very small in that tank, especially as they had a croc in there too
  4. thanks i don't mind a 40cm pleco. he and my black ghost knife are best buddies, and the BGK is likely to get that big too.
  5. last time i tried to measure him (about a week ago), he was over 26cm including tail
  6. i had 2, a male and female. the male was smaller @ 15cm. the female got stuck in a hole in her terracotta pot as she was full of eggs. we got to her too late. still have the male. never attacked any of my fish, but will chase my female bristlenose who is about the same size.

    Guppies Dying

i have found the blond body guppies to be a lot weaker than the standard greys. i lost a few females after birth. solved the problem by crossing them with my greys. now i get at least half of each colour from my females of both colours
  8. thanks Mark. does anyone in the local area know where i can get the stuff mark has mentioned??
  9. ok, HELP!!! i've had him for a a couple of weeks now and noticed today that he is covered. he is in a 4ft tank with 1 pleco , 1 black ghost knife, 3 BN's and 10 cories. as soon as i get my 3ft fixed, the cories will be moved and he will be moved in to a tank of his own (not the 3ft) at the moment i don't have a spare tank to quarantine him in as they're all being used for betta fry. how do i go about treating this tank?
  10. now, can someone please tell me the best way to get them from the container and fed to my fish, with all the bits inbetween please thanks
  11. i got some plastic, non soaped, scour pads from the warehouse. works great and no scratches
  12. i have my betta pair living with bristlenoses and white cloud mountain minnows. the only time the male gets agro is if he is guarding a bubble nest (he's now on his 3rd in 2wks)
  13. will have to wait. as he is the only one like this, i would have to set up a breeding tank specifically for him and some girls, and both my tanks are full of betta fry at the moment. will let you know if and when i get round to it
  14. i have one really odd one. if you hold your hand out on its side, thumb up, the take away your middle and little fingers, thats wht it looks like. its not ripped or wasting away. he has a proper, though short, clear tail with the three "swords" coming from it that are almost snakeskin. hard to get a pic, but will see what i can do
  15. i have some tops, bottoms, double swords and lyretails
  16. you can clean the filter media, and then put filter in the big tank to get established again.
  17. i would, but its an extremely long walk to the nearest beach and i don't drive
  18. how much salt do you add??
  19. if i only end up with 1 surviving, it'll still be worth it
  20. well, the eggs hatched early this morning and now dad has his fins full trying to keep them all in the nest  so funny to watch, but i'm glad he's such a good dad. there are heaps more than the first spawn
  21. guppies will eat their young no matter what you feed them
  22. put the airstone back in as your other fish will need the water oxygenated if theres no filter
  23. well, i have just moved dad and the whole nest into the smaller tank and i didn't drop a single egg (checked, double and triple checked). dad is now making sure everything is in order with HIS nest (i get watched very closely if i go near the tank).
  24. i'll see what i can do. they weren't supposed to breed again,
  25. they haven't hatched yet. only spawned today. both mum and dad collected the eggs and put them in the nest. will start the set up now so i'm prepared for when i have to move them :-? have read that when moving them to make sure they are in water; ie in a cup. well fingers crossed and thanks
