I would get rid of the Bio Balls and replace them with Ceramic Noodles, I use the Eheim Substrate Pro (Sintered Quartz), expensive but great stuff. I just rinse it out in Fish Tank Water, when I clean out the Filter every 6 months. Really no need for the Carbon, unless you are needing to get rid of meds in your Tank for some reason. Filter Wool can be abit of a Pain, you maybe better replacing this with Sponges like Wok said.

All good Petshop's should have it, otherwise try your Vet.

Just replaced mine when the Flow slowed down. Think it was about once every 2-3 weeks.

I'd go with 6 I have 6 Discus in my 215 Ltr Tank I have them in with Keyholes, Cardinals, Rummynoses and a couple of Whiptails, ohh nearly forgot my Loaches :roll: 3 x Water Changes a Week, of around 80%, on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday They all seem Happy and Healthy :bounce:

If that was the Case, I would be heading straight to the Furan2 then :roll:

You could always use some spacers underneath the Dividers to create a gap underneath, for better Water Flow.

Plenty of good water changes and she may come right, if not, you may need to use some Furan2.

Good Filtration doesnt mean you can get away with lesser Water Changes :lol: I have 8 Discus now, do Water Changes of round 70-80% on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Keep the Tank nice and clean and you shouldn't have any problems Here's a pic of my Blue Snakeskin :bounce:

I have an Aquaone AR980, Aquaone AR620T and an Aquaone 620 :bounce: On all of these Tanks I have disposed of the Hood Filter and replaced it with an Aquaone CF1200 I run the Spray Bar of the Externals through the Top of the Hood Filter, under the Lid. I now have the Hood Filter filled with Filter Wool, the Spray Bar sits on top of the Filter Wool, which gets changed every so many months. I found the Hood Filter to be a right pain in the you know what :roll: No need to drill any Holes, I just made the Gap where the Pipes go through bigger, with the help of a Stanley Knife and a pair of Pliers Lynda

OK Here comes the Backlash phoenix :lol: I used Carbon in my Discus Tank, it didn't make any difference that I could see, ended up taking it out, for the Simple reason being, if I ever needed to Treat with Meds, then I would have to muck around and take the carbon out everytime I treated the Tank. Tank seems to be clear now not sure why, maybe it just needed abit of time to settle down, after I installed the New CF1200.
