zuri08
Sorry i fully misread that i read it as legal  so the one on tm was sold illegally were any originally legal? about misreading
Ira
I saw 1 on tm years ago. I doubt it, pacu maybe. will someone like hff import them on my behalf No, they're not going to risk their entire company, hundreds of thousands of dollars, however many dozens of employees jobs and possible jail time so that they can intentionally smuggle in an illegal fish just for one kid to say, "Watch them tear apart a mouse, lol!" hovmoller
I think they have them on show at Kelly Tarltons... in their one freshwater tank

Obviously if illegal i wouldnt want them this was years ago not a pacu either was withdrawn within minutes Only reason id want them is there shape size and swimming style just cool fish id never feed a mouse to one thats sick ps not a kid :yaw1:
Joe
Just wondered why are piranhas illegal in NZ? Surely they wouldn't survive in our waterways? :dunno:
David R
Haven't you seen the movie Piranha 3d?! They kill everything. EVERYTHING!!!
zuri08
They seem hardy fish so im glad there illegal and cant damage our natives
Joe
So do you think could they survive and reproduce in NZ's rivers?
David R
Not likely IMO given the poor conditions of many of our rivers and our cold winters. I doubt they're any bigger threat to our ecology than most of the other large predatory fish that currently get imported (cichlids, dats etc). Joe
Then why are they illegal? :dunno: (not that I'm interested in them at all)
