  1. All those fish have been in, but most hobbyist like reef safe fish, not many fish only tank around.
  2. They are vho super actinic bulbs, used to use they 5 years ok.
  3. Nice tank, I would reduce feeding and stop cyclopeeze for a month and see what the skimmer does.
  4. Ira, You should try and feed less, for the skimmer to do that means that there is too much waste in your tank. the air valve should be set at 2 oclock and adjust the height of the cup to suit. Got any photos of your tank so we can see if there is too many organics in your tank. what is your po4 , nitrate reading?
  5. i didnt think it was a pathetic amount, just with that amount overflowing means you are feeding way to much. no need to overfeed the fish . but also think that the cyclopeeze is also causing the overflowing as it is taking it out.
  6. Might have to ease up on feeding and stop cyclopeeze as to much of it will pollute your tank.
  7. That is serious skimmate, What are you feeding.

  11. I will get you some proper quality carbon from rowa and aqualight and tunze, be interested to see what the reading is . I think all carbon has some phostphates.

Cat eye are good, but good idea to acclimatise them slowly over a few days, they will live much longer

All the tests are great, just brush the algae once a week and dont feed to much, Dont worry about the nitrates , i think under 15ppm is no problems for your tank. I had to add nitrates to my tank as they were zero and i was losing colours in my coral.
  14. I quess someone thought it was a good idea so everyone else followed. When you have used a mulitude of skimmers as i have you get to know what works well and what doesnt. I quess because if you go BB the skimmer wont skim as much as the nutient level will be low and by wet skimming the thought is that you are skimming better. I run many BB tanks and the skimmers still skim as much as a tank that has 1 inch of gravel as you still get dust, crap from the rock, feeding waste, fish waste and i still get algae .
  15. I have seen his tanks, pretty overkill with some of his bracing. But at least it will protect him from damages i suppose.
  16. I though you would have got away with a centre brace?
  17. It’s not worth the price difference. It’s about 3% clearer. I also find that the dimante seems to scatch easier
  18. IF you get the front dimante then you have to get the sides, waste of time otherwise . The green side glass will reflect into the diamante.
  19. A skimmer should skim a nice dark skim, if a skimmer skims wet then it is taking out to much water A skimmer will just stop skimming when there is nothing to take out. I can wet skim, but what is the point, I will just end up taking more water out of my tank and the waste will be less concentrated. Skimmers that are not efficient seem to skim wet. That is what I see when I see the queens, via aqua etc, they all skim wet.
  20. My wife gags when she sees my clean rocks, so need to go barbottom
  21. No as they restrict the flow from the pump.
  22. what are you trying to find out? Hard tp judge a skimmer on skimmitt as there are so many factors.
  23. I think it is a BK300. The best skimmer in terms of quality, but performance does not match the quality . It is tricky to adjust and taken me some time to learn to us the thing. BK are making changes to it by reducing the amount of water and air going into the skimmer as it is way overpowered. Still waiting for my new part, been over a 6 months and still waiting. the new impeller will slow down the motor so hopefully it will skim better. Once adjusted it is not a bad skimmer but out of price range for 99% of hobbyist, and people think Deltec is expensive. at least the Deltec is plug and play. My Deltec ap1003 is still the best skimmer i have seen. going to be hard to beat. So will see what the new BK impeller will do to the skimmer performance. My Aquaconnect is going real well with the new titanium impeller
