i dont think the readings are that bad, nitrite is not a problem that low in saltwater as it has a higer ph . The ammonia is as high as you want to go.

    SPS Food

Who knows what works, best just use what ever works for you. I have tried so many and they all seem to have a effect, Only way to tell is to put pics up before pics and after pics. i doubt you have to feed acros, i have seen no real improvements in acros since feeding, so i only feed whenever. I note that i do get improvements in Goniopra, gorgonias etc. What are the ingredients of the vitiliser??
  3. i think the tail being yellow confirms it is a african flameback, That is the only differance i can see, the brazialian and african i have almost look the same except for the tail.
  4. i think that is a brazilian flameback.

    skim skim skim

He works for d&d in london. I have never seen these washers on a Deltec, Yours must be a very old model, I think it came from Andrew who got it second hand from Germany and then sold it to Arron.
  6. have to agree with that.
  7. go and get it as they have queen angel.

    kole tang

very nice tangs, wish i could add one, but my yellow tangs dont get on with them. might have to pull them all out and put the kole in at the same time as the yellow tang
  9. now you calcium is 450ppm, how did it go up.
  10. Shold be ok for mushrooms and low light corals. T5s or metal halide will do the trick
  11. Not worth the effort, as the skimmer I made cost more than a Deltec with the same specs, Skimmer is more than bubbles as you have to have the correct airflow and correct amount of water going through it to get peak performance. It takes many trials to get the thing correct so it cost to change things, How can anyone build a skimmer if they have not experience in using different skimmers, like making a car engine and not being a mechanic/engineer? Plus you can't sell a homemade skimmer, but you can sell a branded skimmer.
  12. Have you had wasp test your po4 with a colour meter. as it would be good to see what your po4 really is. as i doubt it is zero. how old is the test kit.? To get kh down you could add some calcium. 10 kh is high, even magnesium of 1500mg is high ,
  13. Should be able to be adjusted by the regulator, however you should be aiming at 1 bar coming out
  14. The fish needs to be on the current maf list and others that are in nz will be considered. that is correct Dry rock can still come in
  15. Pointless complaining, do something about it.
  16. In terms of the marine list I have undertaken to work on it. I will be able to get most photos as I have imported most of items and am aware who has the fish/coral I need to be added to the list. Will advise in a few weeks if I need some photos of a certain fish/coral. Big problem is acropora for example. I doubt anyone can identify all the species. And taking photos of the 100 or so acropora species will be imposable. Pointless blaming MAF as it is controlled by ERMA who is following the law and I guess they need to know what is in the country. We get most of the coral anyway as you cant get most of the stuff that are in books as they are not collected or are rare. No such thing as a banned list.
  17. One thing i noticed about your acros chimera is that they dont seem to be getting much light. one factor in getting colored acropora. The photos look dark.

    Sand bed depth

Looks great in a selling tank or quarantine, but in a show tank BB is not my cup of tea.
  19. reef

    what is this?

actually the family is actiniidae. Species Name: Anemonia manjano
  20. reef

    what is this?

anemonia. likes strong light with medium to strong water flow. this species is not suitable for a coral reef tank because of the high reproduction rate

    aquarium corals

I think the modern Reef aquarium books by svein covers more than just corals and gets into more detail on the equipment side, inverts etc..
