  3. danilada, sorry for all your losses It's so sad when these things happen but I've learned that sometimes no matter how hard we try, we will loose fish. Of course this was a major loss, so much harder to take. But DON'T give up, you did the best you could. I don't like rum and coke, but if that works, go for it! If not, look at the surviving fish, they still need you! Caper

Freakyfish wrote: But remember, I was told that it was not a good idea when I first started to keep fish and read it somewhere as well, but that's a few years ago now. I've never questioned or mentioned it before so I thought it was right all along and I have been in pet shops (not here) but other places and saw them do it. I know the fish are coming out of their water, geesh  :-? I don't mix the fishy things among tanks in my home either, e.g. nets. I just thought it was another way of reducing the possibility of transfering "bugs" so to speak. Caper

    Polystyrene

Just browsing through some old posts. I thought that it did help with keeping the tank level, obviously not then????, hmmmm must go check my tanks. I only have one that's not on poly. Caper
  10. Thanks Alan! I never thought of the weight issue which would be a major consideration, thanks! Caper
  11. Why is it that you cannot put wheels on a tank stand? Instability??? Weight??? The guy who painted my apartment a few years ago said he had wheels on his, but considering the poor paint job and the fact he used the wrong paint, wouldn't trust what he said! Caper
  12. Is the stand finished yet??? Caper

  14. I'm hoping, no quarantees though, that I can start preparations to get my 55 gallon set up. Found the tape measure, so because it's still in the box the measurements are approximate and I used the converter so here goes: 55 gallon - 208 L 4' long - 121.92cm 13" wide - 33.02 cm 20" high - 50.8 cm How do you suggest I clean it out for the first time??? Do I need to fill it completely to test for leaks??? Caper
  15. Good, hopefully he'll keep improving. Hope he's all better before you go away, one less worry. Did you say that someone was staying with him while you are gone??? Caper
  16. livingart, Ira...what do you mean by the base not being supported   Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Thanks for the site Zev, me leave here...absolutely NOT. You folks are my anchors in the aquarium world plus you're my friends So, nope, not getting rid of me We do have a Rona store here, well used to be called something else but now Rona so I'll have to check it out. Thanks, Caper
  17. Keep us posted if anything changes. Maybe, as been said here before, he just had an itch. I learned a long time ago, from here of course, that just because they are scratching/flashing doesn't always mean there is always a problem. Caper
