  1. Sorry about your loss But, it is like you said...I've seen others who have had both and they seemed to be fine. I had a sailfin molly who the lady a the store said it would be too agressive with my other fish...never had a problem with him at all. Now, who's to say that if I bought another, it would be the same way, might be or might turn out to be a terror. But it is my understanding that neons in the wild are food for angels, but then it's also said that any fish will eat another fish if it will fit in its mouth, so...I guess what I'm trying to say it...you just never really know where some kinds of fishies are concerned anyway, I mean I know there are definites out there! :-? :-?
  2. But he said he only has one tank? Can he just put them in a cleaned (not with soap) container with an airstone, is that what you mean? Wish, I could help
  3. :bounce: :bounce: CONGRATULATIONS :bounce: :bounce: Well, unless men are different over you're way, most don't read them here...not that they don't need to most of the time     You're tank is looking great...I'm reading your post & thinking *I can feel his excitment in his posts*. The guppy on the right, I had one very similar...but he died
  4. And why wouldn't we be , it's not the size that...ah...well...okay, um...okay size to the fishies, *whew almost put foot in mouth* My tanks aren't very big...but that doesn't mean my fishies and tankies , yah, I lost it...are just as important! If there is one thing I've learned here...it's about the hobby...fishies, tanks, people that own them. So, yes here's one that is interested...and I know I'm not alone Keep us updated...and once things are all set up...and your lucky girlfriend has her great gift...post some pics Oh...and I get the feeling MTS has begun already :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

    Itchy fishies!

How's your fishies, herefishiefishie? Sorry, about your electric yellow, and it is sad when fishies die Well, I think the worst is over in my tank (knocks on wood, no wood not my head  ). Although, I did notice a couple of neons scratching last night  I'll have to wait and see what happens. They really took a beating although a few have their color back (speaking of neons). Their tails a pretty messed up but I don't know if I should treat with Melafix or just leave for awhile. I mean this tank has had enough meds I think for awhile so don't want to add anything else unless absolutely necessary.

    Spots on molly

Can you post any pics??? What other fishies do you have? Certainly doesn't sound like a specific injury where these things are popping up in different places. Is the "original lump" you spoke about gone? Wish I could help, but the wise ones will
  7. I've seen that here to Snowman and you're right it is expensive. I wouldn't say that I get a lot of cuts, I'm mine own worst enemy, biting!

    L shape tank

OH MY GOSH...I WOULD BE HONOURED  :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  9. Hmmm...I did try adding some warm water when doing my weekly changes (25%). But, when I was going through all the trouble with my sick fishies, I wondered if that was not helping the situation, because they weren't used to that. Usually, I put my water in the containers at least the day before and then just add. Then, when I found out about the copper pipes...OH NO So, I went back to doing what I had been doing all along. Water in containers at the very least, the day before change. (oh, by the way, I emailed the company about the copper and if their product made using the water safe, they said yes). When I added the water, that had been sitting since the evening before, the temp in my tank went down 2 degrees. But, now I have also increased the temp in my tank, about 26C now.
  10. If they're suggesting a liner, does that mean they can't figure out where the leak is, I don't mean that in a nasty way, but I'm sure it can't be easy to find.
  11. Didn't know that! Sometimes I think, in trying to help us, they make things worse. I knew about the chloramine as well. But, BlueandKim, I thought any amount of chlorine wasn't good for the fishies?

    Amazon Tank

Oh my gosh...thanks for the videos...WOWIE :bounce: :bounce:
  13. Babies...babies...everywhere What kind of media did you boil...and why?
  14. But I always thought you do NOT add chlorinated water to your tank at all, thought that was a big no no!
  15. If you boil driftwood, does it still release tannins?
  16. I used a product called Cycle. I didn't like it and stopped using it, with that said, maybe I just wasn't lucky with it...but for me, I found it made things worse than just letting the tank cycle without it. I used nothing on my first tank, except fishies. I think it worked better. Plus, like everyone here says, if you already have any established tank use it to...hmmm, I think the correct word it "seed" your new one. But, if I recall correctly, this is your first tank you're setting up isn't it? I've never used the other products you mentioned.

    Itchy fishies!

The first treatment had the trichlorfon in it and I have no doubt that's what killed Chong my pleco The directions only said to remove snails & crustaceans. What do you mean, different tanks? Why the double dose of salt? So, I think I'm getting a guideline to follow when fishies start scratching (not the occasional "itch") more than they should: 1. check water parameters 2. increase temp 3. add salt....oh, I'd be really nervous on that one! If it is Ick, once you raise the temp how many days approximatly before the spots would appear? The reason I ask how long for the spots to appear is...hum...in case it isn't Ick but something else. Why didn't you want to turn the lights on? What do you mean???? Good luck to you and your fishies, keep us posted & know that I'll be thinking of you...must tell you this, when my son comes in with my grandson...if he's showing him the fish he makes this funny voice and says "here fishie fishie". Update.... - so far today, no deaths :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: -all seem to be more active To be on the safe side, I will dose with the Ick Guard tonight & tomorrow night whick will be the final dose. Now, most of the neons, their tail fins are all but gone! One of the guppy's tail fin has a "split" and looks a little "clear" at the end (he didn't have Ick); another, who did have Ick a little "clear" at the end too. Considering all they been through and with the meds, should I do anything else or just wait & see what happens now that the Ick appears to be gone???

    Quarantine tank

Well, that would be Sam my goldfish (from the best I could tell is probably about 2.5"). So that would mean a 10 gallon ? If so, I'm in trouble, I really have no room right now for another one that size Mind you, I don't know where I'm going to put any size! I so wish I could just get a bigger tank for my goldfish, but that's just not an option right now.
  20. Another reason for people to move to New Zealand :bounce: So, tomorrow...ah, today...ah, still Saturday here...sooooooo Sunday there :-? anyway...hmmm have they refilled Caryl's Lagoon yet??

Gee, wouldn't that be neat :bounce: :bounce: I understand I can't be...but gee, if you folks ever do, do that...think of me...because I would be so so...HONOURED :bounce: :bounce: Alan, are you topless???
  22. Really, really, really nice, Fishkeepa I thought that was a great idea about the old gravel in the bag thingy that whetu recommended, and obviously it worked :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

    Wood or not?

What are GBA's? The algae wafers you get here don't have wood in them...oh, can't get that here...what a surprise
  24. I've been wanting to get one for a long time now. Originally I had hoped that I could get a bigger tank for my goldfish and use the 10 gallon, but when I had the opportunity & need to get another tank, the price was so good on the 29gallon I bought second hand I bought it! Now, something has happened just this week & I can finally get the quarantine tank But I don't have much room left to put tanks so I want to know what is the smallest size tank that I could use????
