    Hello all.

All a part of fishing keeping though...so, you are not getting out having your brains picked      oh darn, did it again, I meant nice to meet you!
  2. I was wondering where you were Caryl
  3. Yep that's for sure, I read alot & love coming to my number 1 favorite place...HERE...because you all are the best :bounce: :bounce: But I have such a rotten memory...sometimes I just wish that somebody would reboot my brain, hmmm...or is that boot my brain :-? But then, I'm not 16 either    Way to go Sharn, I would have thought you were around this earth much longer And by the way ljtan55...waiting is so hard isn't it
  4. Yes, the red eye's are supposed to be that is why I got another tank to get them out of there...but neons? I'm scared I'm going to loose him, but I just don't know what else I can do
  5. Let's see, goldfish, ottos, pleco, guppies, platies, mollies, tiger barbs, green barbs, red eye tetras, neon tetras, wccm, black neon tetra...I think that's it! So how many fighters do you have? Shelley...I really am hooked :-? :-? I truly love this hobby. AND like you said it is relaxing. I can watch my fish and forget about anything that is bothering me! But, if it wasn't for all the help I received here, I probably would have given up long ago but knowing that this fantastic resource is here sure helps :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  6. Um, platies, wccm, mollies, neon tetras, 1 black neon tetra, and guppies! That is why I removed my red eye tetras. I haven't noticed any nipping, not to say that its not happening. But the other guppy's tail was fine after treating with the melafix so I don't understand why it didn't help Blue's. But then, his tail is a different shape, more long & flowing, so to speak. Just a note, except for the neons & the wccm (don't know their sex)...all the other fishies are male, ah could this have anything to do with it?
  7. Sorry Deb...haven't encountered that as yet anyway. I have a goldfish that is blind, no idea what happened to him & to look at his eyes, they look no different than when he could see!

    BristleNoses

Wow Alan that must have been neat to see :bounce:
  9. Thanks Suphew That's good to know whew I do regular water changes...mostly weekly but occasionally I have gone 2 weeks between but more on the weekly basis.
  10. Okay...Blue's tail is disappearing. This tank has already been treated with Melafix, fixed up another guppy's tail! But, has not made a difference with Blue's. The tank was treated since I moved the red eye tetras out...so I really don't know what else to do! Tested water, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, pH hah as I've said before difficult to tell but not quite 7.6. I have been doing regular water changes. He's eating, swimming...there's nothing on the tail (what is left of it) that is visible (i.e. white, blood streaks). This has been happening for quite sometime now! Please help I really don't know what else to do

    Tiger barbs!

Thanks I have 2 ottos in my 10 gallon and they do a great clean up job, so that & the fact that they are small is why I would like to get them. If I remember correctly, is it one/5 gallons????
  12. You are right Kerri Anne...KOOKIE what color????

    Tiger barbs!

Unfortunately, as usual, not much choice here  So far, I've only seen the green, tiger & I think they could have been albino but not sure, but then neither was the person who waited on me! Billaney, what do you think about ottos with them, as I said, if I can get them would like to, but would they be ok with the barbs?
  14. Me too Mustcooktea! The heater came with my new (2nd hand tank!), the only thing is I don't know what kind it is. It is different than the ones I have and the ones that are sold here. I might try to call the people & see if they can tell me because I would love to put it down/angle if I could!

    Tiger barbs!

Billaney...I have 9 now, 5 tiger & 4 green, are they just called green barbs :-? Had 5 green, but 1 died I find they school more than my neons in the other tank. They are pretty and so active, I do enjoy watching them which is why I'm leaning more towards getting a few more of them. I do have to watch my numbers though. Billaney, what do you think, should I get 2 more red eyes, would the other 3 "happier" for lack of a better word with more of their own kind, then go the rest with barbs??????? So, right now I only have them & my 3 red eye tetras (whose, thus far, all fins in tact!).

    Tiger barbs!

  But, I think you are right! I've been reading about the barbs and peoples experiences with them :-? Now I'm eve more undecided about what to put in with them, more barbs or something else! Now, what about algae eaters with the barbs? I'd really like to get some ottos if, and that is a BIG IF, I can get them, but do you think they'd be ok with them, opinions please Oh, and when I was going to different fishy places on the net...I have come to the conclusion that my pleco is a "common" pleco...found some pics that look just like Chong
  17. Sorry...not much here...oh shoot, keep forgetting I live on the other side of the world...darn
  18. Congrats on your new fishies :bounce: :bounce: Can't get them here So I've only seen pics of them...hint hint...don't forget to post pics From what I've read about them, they do like to have a hiding place, like a cave or  something  , those who have them & the experience can correct me if I'm wrong
  19. Can't buy nitrate test kits here! Last year, when I was in Halifax, the guy at a pet store told me I didn't need it! Anyway, my question is...if ammonia is 0 and nitrites are 0, could nitrates still be too high? As I said, can't get the kits here, so I've never tested for nitrates.
  20. Hi there! Sorry, can't help you with those amazing creatures, I have not a clue...but I'm sure others will! Once, you get things up and running post some pics Take care, Caper
  21. Hi Shelley how the heck are you????? Darn it, I didn't know we had to have bedrooms for our fishies    Glad to see you back here...I have 3 tanks now, my 10 gallon & 2, 29 gallons...although, maybe that is a very true statement, bedroom for the fish...hmmm...bedroom...fishroom...bedroom....fishroom :-? :-? Be seein' yah...glad you're back :bounce: :bounce:
