  1. Put it into a plastic bag with no water and throw it hard onto the concrete path. It is then dead, just pretend that you are bowling a bouncer to Ponting.
  2. Try supa glue, it was developed for closing skin. No!! I'm not joking.

    Aquapods in NZ

Wow, what a site. Just checked it thru quickly and came up with this for brine shrimp catching. Something that the older ones here have / had but can't be obtained now; the multiple set of nets http://www.shopsolution.nl/shop/home.as ... d=combzeef These are fantastic for sifting mozzies, daphnia down to various grades. IE, I use it for mozzies when I want the bigger ones, soon to hatch and bigger mouthfuls, and I then put the tiny ones back to grow on, ditto with the daphnia, but in reverse, keeping the breeders
  4. Get in touch with Pupuke Aquarium Auck. Penguinleo maybe able to do the check for you. Why not PM him.
  5. Tried those big black rubbish bags??

Try out this site http://fins.actwin.com/mirror/begin-chem.html That'll give you an idea about what the terms are. If you go to "Contents" you'll get a run down of very useful information, aimed at "Beginners"
  7. Welcome aboard ashbo. What do you mean by older?? We have two threads going that you may want to share in, one is what is the average age, the other is a good practice to learn your photo posting skills, what does each member look like. Should be able to find by browsing the Off Topic Thread
  8. Better behaved than convicts and a much nicer fish IMO. Yes to being a community fish as well

    my panduro!!

Yes Ant, I had trouble proving my boys "maleness" too, wasn't till they produced viable eggs that I was 100% sure. Note the first line of my other post, IMO??

    my panduro!!

All of those pics have female IMO, the third pic has one coming into view, and I can't see the marks on it clear enuf to give an opinion on it. But if the rest are a share of both of them, then you have two females. The male should have a body colour of sky blue
  11. I can tell it's a problem with Brud, because he calls ya "mate" he even does it in his posts. But hey , his shop is a must see, and what was that one where they closed the shop doors so I could take a pic of their aro tank??. Sharn would have loved the size of it, the tank, and the fish. That's a good one too. The Wholesale chain are just that. Ok if you want to buy 100 neons, cheap, but expensive to buy small numbers. You'll get blown away by the number and size of their tanks though, they are worth a trip. Then there was a small one that was absolutely loaded with Africans. So good that Rose was even swept up in the emotion of seeing them. Worthwhile checking that one because they have fish there ya don't get here. Well not coloured like that. You park in the centre of the road, hoprfully Frenchy can tell you what the name is from that discription. She even said "now if you had fish like that I wouldn't mind you having fish." Hit up the boyz when you get over there. Bluudy good guys!!
  12. But then you sit down and drink it with them
  13. It's ok if you pay koha, slab maybe?? Yeah, same as when I was there back then too. Probably more so now.
  14. Years ago (20ish) I took the family camping down at the mollie pool Went on towards that maori village, straight ahead and not up the hill. Parked up the caravan there for four days. So it is a place that could be considered too. Plenty of room for cars and away from the highway. Good safe place for swimming, and at the village they have lake-side hotpools for bathing. But I would think that those would be tribal tho.
  15. No you can't. You are assuming that and that is all they are, unless you want to go to the expense of a DNA test. Let's not start all over again.
  16. gatito.descarado, PM Wok and he will fill you in on any details you may need. He is in Mangere
  17. Something inside rings a bell like Buyer beware If you know your fish and what you want, you can say "I know you have that wrong and I won't buy it thanks" The money doesn't have to shift from your pocket We all have choices, even tho at time we make the wrong ones, then they have consequences. Opps, sounding like Rose and her Dr. Phil
  18. Ok guys, as has been explained, a similar thread did come up last nite and was deleted. I have been informed by Management Staff ( of that line of shops) that they will be getting in touch with THAT shop, and informing them in the errors of their ways. Just don't mention specific shops please. When you see this in a shop, speak to them and make sure, in a gentle way, that what they are doing is not quite what is needed in the hobby.
  19. I've posted this in another thread but if anyone is still watching this thred it could be worth posting here... I'm interested in getting an american flag fish. Can I keep only one? Yes If so would it matter if it was male or female? Male if only one I could consider adding a second eventually but that would be the limit I think as far as my tank size goes. If I was to have a pair would a pair of females be better than a pair of males (I'm not interested in breeding them) just don't want any aggression? Get two girls then (make the LFS happy) Would they be safe with WCMM? Yes Does anyone know who would have these in chch? I don't come from that area, but try Organisms
  20. This has just been moved over to the killi section by request from the author Mod - Alan
  21. Try the Herd Improvement
  22. Try a pair of Jordanella floridae, Flag killies. They can take quite cool temps too, in fact, they'd survive an unheated tank inside no sweat.
  23. Isn't that the person with those pacus??

    Tank Repair

Definately matters what side you put it on Outside the water will travel the crack to the edge and still leak You need to cut back the inside glue and then cut a piece of glass, same thickness as the original base,. to fit side to side over the cracked base. It does not need to be the full length unless of course the crack has gone lengthwise. The important area for the glue is around the perimeter of the patch. A handy hint is a thermometer-suction cup or similar, helps remove the patch while fitting if needed.
