  1. Looks like it could be the stuff on top of a medium that a cactus plant was planted in that was given to us. In fact I was feeling it today and it felt rather smooth, almost like a bitumin.
  2. Better say good one to to EJ for the fish that he'll be showing too, haven't seen a specimen as good as this guy for yonks.
  3. Scheeli will be shown. Sorry, the other two are under wraps at the moment but fingers definitely crossed for their survival out there killiefish mates.
  4. They must be rare Caryl if most of the time you can only get them from cross-contaminated club members. Heard today the possibility that all but two of the species held in NZ, at the moment that I know of, will be shown at the National Fish-show, to be held at Hamilton in Oct this year. Good one Aquanut. There could be other fish out there tho, still in an ol'timers peat too.

    Advice

jhct, you may find that very shortly it will be to your own benefit to have in your locacation the actual PLACE in NZ that you live is. In overseas ppls views we are thought of as being small. But we know better. So how's about gowen back and changing you location in your profile a little. Thanks.

    Prickly Gourami

LW. The disease is not curable. Kill it now, and don't risk whatever you have in the aquarium from being contaminated in the future or worse still, killing them. I would say that the next ones to look out for would be the neons, the will start to show a lack of discolouration, to the point of being almost white. This is from the scale facing you(and all over the body) are sticking out, and you are looking straight towards the skin.
  7. I agree with David here Slappers and Ira also. Do the hot onto cold in the wrong order and it will go alright. Just get a container to hold the heater in and wind the temp. guage up. No worries at all doing it that way.
  8. A new and improved Vicki. Hi there hon. Good to see you back on. How come your okers with snakes but not with spiders??
  9. In my experience it is the females that "show" colour first, as Alanmin and Peter Mc said. Look for the gravid spot to "show" and you have a female.
  10. I wouldn't push your luck with the insurance, but then my Dad use to say, if you don't ask you don't receive.
  11. I was told that increasing the temp to 30oC will actually kill the parastes. I wouldn't vouch for it, but it was from a reasonably good source.
  12. All though the later 2 pic's have bluish bodies all 3 pic's are females. The reason I say this is of the black belly patch, only females have this. The problem sexing panduros is the paling of that patch making the female look like male. Sorry I was not home this weekend as I am visiting my mate Alan. Stu Lord aka Caserole
  13. Why not try a water blaster to get it off the plastic. Do it outside tho.

When do you want me to send the rego form?. It'll only cost you $25.00. Welcome to the killi, umm, FNZAS Forum
  15. It is vital that none of your other tanks get cross contaminated Paul, watch nets from one tank to the other without sterilizing, and wash hands after dealing with the mollie tank.
  16. Well I couldn't let it go without a few shavings and a pile of sawdust.
  17. You can release them from the shell by sucking in and out with a eye-dropper, or similar. But if it has been like that for too long it wil probablel be deformed. Don't be discouraged tho as I'm sure you will have more killies than you can handle in the months to come.
  18. Sure hope that they don't get too drunk in that tank of theirs.

I agree with Caryl, you just have to sort out the chaff from the grain. Welcome aboard
  20. No it is not normal at all Paul. It could possibly still be in a eggshell that it wasn't able to flick out of. By the time they hatch, they have no egg sac and are straight into BBS if you have it.

    Sick Giraffe

Once it has recuperated, take out the other ven and swap them tank for tank, this way it'll get a chance to claim a territory and be more comfortable. What is wrong with it being a female and the other, if a male, making amorous advances.
  22. If MAF were to close the border tomorrow. The only choice of fish would be from the local breeders. The reason the NZKA members are such idiot, avid, fishbreders is because we know that if the species that we have in NZ were to die out, we'd have little show of replacing them. Maybe we need more clubs oriented towards breeding THEIR specie of fish to cover for the day that the borders do get closed. If they did.

    Brine Shrimp Eggs

I agree with Rogan, join the NZKA. They have excellent products foodwise at good prices.
  24. Bad luck there PL, but at least it wasn't her that ate the eggs. Guess there will be a bit of a change around for the not so happy but wanna be fish.
  25. In quarantine, the fish are often swimming in a puddle of chemicals just so as they can get them thru the six weeks Q time. I have seen this in almost all the Q stations that I have visited, and one even employed a vet full time. No wonder they die when they get into fresh, clean water. I have only recently seen an importer putting a yellow powder in by the handful. Several of you on this site will know of whom I speak.
