    bracing

I have a 10mm 1200x600x600 tank, has 150mm end braces, and a 100mm center brace, along with 50mm braces lengthwise on the top. That was how Greg (tanks2u) specced/built it - not sure if you could have less, or if I would want less (I'm paranoid )
  2. No-one in KMAC that you've (of course) asked could help you out? printing will be at most $1/pic.... that's a small cost to keep your fav fish avail for import I would think
  3. Putting some baffles in your sump will help, stops the bubbles actually reaching the return pump.
  4. Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries - they control what can be imported into NZ fish/plant wise, along with a few other jobs

    He's alive!!!

My adult b/n's do that as soon as they hear the front door close
  6. now if only placemakers were in Canada
  7. With something that big I would drill 1-2" holes in the bottom, and find cylinders of lead to fit into it... shouldn't be too hard to find a way to embed lead into it without it being visible
  8. damm straight Wok yeah, I'm about as CBD as you get
  9. Cool.. So.. no gloves (be a man lol), and temp is cool.. And I shall find an opaque container just to be safe
  10. well you're welcome to come to mine, however I'm not exactly east Auckland
  11. Well the container is going to be on the balcony, so will get sun.. plans are to mix 100L at a time (100L container, go figure ), and use it from there, topping up/re mixing when needed. The powerhead I have for mixing it will easily pump water from the container to the tank (I've used it for such before ), so that's all good in terms of not having to move the container. Temperature wise, I found that changing 10% in that tank when it was freshwater straight out of the hose dropped the tank temp maybe 0.5 of a degree.. is this a big issue for saltwater - I'm happy to run a heater in the container before changing if it is. Thoughts?
  12. heh.. that pic makes me miss my oscar
  13. Oscar's standard thought pattern = "I'm hungry, that will fit in my mouth, CHOMP"
  14. apparently they make good eating

    AR380 to marine

Right on the button 2xSeio 820 powerheads + Deltec MCE600 skimmer. Well.. I will do once there's water in the tank hehe, not long now though. (impatiently waits for payday so he can be patient waiting for tank to cycle ) still looks nice without the filter part, and the deltec skimmer is nice and unobtrusive

    AR380 to marine

I have an aqua one R2-150 with the same Deltec skimmer fitted, I just took the filter off the top of the tank - will want the real estate for lights in the future anyway
  17. I'm looking at getting a 100ishL container for mixing ASW in in the next few days, and when I was looking at things it occurred to me... Should the container be opaque so as not to let the sun on the water? Also.. Gloves. Everything I've read says you should always use gloves in marine tanks, which makes sense. Does anyone have a recommendation of decent gloves and where to get them from? Danke muchly in advance
  18. Sweet... short term carbon coming up for my tank too
  19. More water changes Running carbon in the filter may help too, but someone else better confirm/deny that one since I haven't done it
  20. You don't want to know what you have to do to get that third star
  21. You may find that at $0.90ish/a4 colour page a printing place would be cheaper and better than inkjet printing
  22. I'll second the "go and see people's setups and talk to them" thing... I've done that with a couple of people here on the forums (thanks Jetskisteve and reef!), and am intending to see more yet (no-one is safe!). Chatting one-on-one with people tends to get a lot of questions answered more clearly than on the forums at times.
