  1. So.. after tearing the planted tank apart just two days ago to try and extract all the baby bristlenose... What should happen? You guessed it... more eggs  I need a chastity belt for dad me thinks
  2. Should be fine, I had clown loaches in with baby guppies and they ignored each other. If you're looking at clowns.. get three as opposed to one.. they really hate being alone.
  3. I went blue, just stuck tank backing paper on the back. means you can change your mind later
  4. Overflow in the top right corner, excellent!
  5. Right.. salinity is going up... looks far better

    Salinity

Okies... so I'm adding saltwater to the tank at the moment. From what I've read salitiy can run from 1.021 to 1.029ish.. with for some reason 1.026 sticking in my head. The instructions (hah) with the red sea salt mix say 1.021.. but this seems a bit low. Is 1.026 where I should be heading for?
  8. hehehe... was what was recommended to me by reef, and there was a thread on here about it from memory as well I've turned mine off again, but the bubbles def increased as the salinity is rising (mixing uber saltwater in another bucket then adding when mixed)
  9. noise wise I just tried the pump itself out of the skimmer and in the tank, silent as... need to kill the vibrations and double check things me thinks
  10. around 2pm from memory.. reef?
  11. Cool, I mainly fired it up to make sure it didn't leak etc. (never a good look when it's behind the tank hehe)
  12. It's fresh, soon to be salt, will take more pics as the salinity increases - cheers
  13. So I have water in my tank (lots of pics to come etc). I've set the deltec mce600 skimmer up on the front of the tank at the moment (so I can see what it does lol).. Does this look like it's running correctly? It's kinda noisy as well going to try what the instructions suggest and put some foam under the pump inside it to see if that helps shut it up some.
  14. I would trust greg... his tanks are awesome
  15. I know greg (tanks2u) has at least one... poss ask him where he got it?
  16. The phrase "because I can!" comes to mind
  17. Likewise.. just minus the pipette bit, I use the far less scientific method of "pour a lil bit in"
  18. You're putting the bbs through a hankerchief or something similar to drain the salt water before feeding, right?
  19. I think he means all four of those tanks are his sump, display tanks not pictured (for Brianemone)
  20. So what's the difference then in running a mininal (1/2" max) sandbed with cured live rock and keeping it clean/vacced and the rock in reasonably high flow? Either way the crap coming off the rock doesn't stay in the system, right? Possibly not as surgically clean I guess?
  21. This is one of my oldest fish, I still have two left, originally got them off my boss when he went overseas (before I even owned a tank, they went into the flatties tank). The rest are with the Flatmate, but I was wondering what they were.. I always assumed a tetra of some sort...
  22. I used the whole lot... they're all due to hatch at the same time anyhows. If you have a heap of peat, you could seperate it over a container or three to keep a thin layer (eggs not trapped under peat). I found they started hatching after about 20-30 mins. Was literally "instant fish, just add water" lol
  23. Take peat in bag... put in plastic container ( I found the glad containers rocked), add water from tank and put in hot water cupboard or float in tank. Watch
  24. Number 3 is hygro, grows like a weed
  25. I could help you out with a bristlenose or two hundred what fish do you hav e in the tank?
