  1. Once the egg sac is gone they're around 8mm from memory.
  2. We can't get any of the above not allowed into the country. Easy guess going off that hehe
  3. You're obviously not living in New Zealand?
  4. Retested some things at lunch Nitrate - 4 Nitrite - 0.02 Ammonia - <0.25 (undetectable) huzzah Need to do the others tonight, I have some rowaphos at home, so after testing phosphates I will get some of that in the skimmer's media chamber and see how that runs. Anyone want to pick me up a pH testkit? (grr at girlfriend using car for work these days heh)
  5. mahaahhahaa actually I was thinking the $4.95 cost at the LFS... *shrug* buyer beware and all that If he/she wanted $50 for a trio claiming it was linebred.. sure, complain
  6. Also.. can someone give me ballparks where I should be trying to get for Kh/Ak and Calcium? Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrite/Phosphate I know where I'm supposed to be
  7. 370L - 5' long and some other dimensions for width and height
  8. Not a bad idea actually.. might go have a look around bunnings in the weekend. Need to get some aqua-kneed-it from the Warehouse too so I can unleash the aquascaping power of the girlfriend on it
  9. Okies.. broke out the test kits at lunchtime, and got the following. Salinity 1.026 (refractometer) kH - 9.6 Ak - 3.43 Nitrate - 5 Nitrite - 0.05 Ammonia - <0.25 (undetectable) Calcium - 370 Phosphates - 0.25 kH and Akilinity I'm going to do again after work, think I messed it up. All tests were using Salifert, will do pH as soon as I get a kit (I forgot when getting all the others lol).
  10. If you haven't emptied it yet, do it now
  11. Heh yeah, just the usual.. need to be patient Will do the whole range of tests tomorrow, should be fun (I'm planning to enjoy the tedious things whilst they're still new and exciting lol)
  12. It's just the blue backing stuff from the fish store
  13. Thought I should put up a pic since I got rock tonight and got it in the tank
  14. Option 2 would be the one, then you would need to make the whole tank out of acrylic though
  15. Can't use the glass on the front of the TV, it's part of the cathode ray tube, there's a vacuum behind that glass
  16. Basically from the time you notice eggs, you're looking at 7 days to hatch, then dad will keep them in the cave for another 3-4 days. After that you'll see one or two who have gotten away roaming the tank, and more and more after that
  17. Fancy resizing that image? I left my 40" screen at my other mansion
  18. If he keeps doing that for 7 days or so it would be well possible
  19. My powerheads lack filter cartridges (seios), however will thief an internal filter and fill it with filterwool Only needs to be done once hopefully, just to clear the floating stuff
  20. It's dependant on what you want to keep. Many corals need that amount of light to thrive.. whilst many others don't. Fish for the most part don't care.
  21. I had 170ish at one point in time.. when we stripped the tank the other day and went on a catching mission we got about 50 out, and there don't seem to be too many left in the main tank (maybe 15-20) so I'm guessing the others became food for my fat community fish hehe. The ones in the growout tank are spoken for, just so long as they stay alive long enough to be picked up (go the daily waterchanges lol) I'm tempted with this batch to try removing the bulk of em sooner other than later to a grow out tank, with water etc from the main tank, purely to make them easier to feed and remove later.
  22. Hopefully an easy question I've added water/salt to the new tank, only other thing in there is about 1" of sand. I rinsed the sand before adding and got most of the dust etc off it, however there's still bits and pieces floating around in the water. When the tank's running, there's no mechanical filtration obviously, so what's the best way to get the stuff that's currently floating around out? Put an internal filter in there for a day or so before anything else goes in? I haven't gotten any carbon yet (picking up tomorrow), I'm guessing that's not going to remove solids from the water though. Thoughts?
