  1. Bugger, one of my chromis decided life in the outside world was a better option this morning, came home to find it on the floor behind the tank. Checked ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and salinity, all were zero and salinity 1.026, so not sure what happened there unless the other one chased him out
  2. And my opinion would be neither do a whole lot.
  3. Meths is the purple one, it's purple to warn you not to drink it
  4. Is there supposed to be a link with that? 8) Must be early on a Sat morning
  5. From here: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/popula ... t7697.html looks like it's 90 litres

    Photos Please!

If you want to do it properly... Take pics in RAW mode (get a camera decent enough to do that), then adjust the white balance on the computer to match your tank (be honest!) Otherwise... the big thing, find the white balance on your camera, see if you can set it, get a greyscale card ( you can find them to print out on camera sites) and match it to your camera/lighting to get the white balance correct. Generally white balance is what effects the colour balance, unless you're being bad and playing with exposure (which is generally noticible and only effects brightness, not colour)
  7. It's a somewhat different ballgame between keeping corals etc alive, and keeping fish alive. You can run a fish-only tank without a skimmer, and just using a cannister filter/water changes to keep the nitrates down, but corals/invertibrates have much higher demands on water quality. Idea of a skimmer is to remove waste BEFORE it enters the nitrogen cycle. That's a horribly simplistic view, but you get the picture. Chillers look like a small dehumidifier, have two hoses (in and out) and work like a fridge inside. Budget around $700 for a cheap one.
  8. I'll see your 14, and raise you "4 8 15 16 23 42"
  9. Water test time pH - 8.2 Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates all zero kH - 7.7 akl - 2.74 Calcium - 370
  10. shush you'll get my thread hijacked actually I've been feeding human blood, works wonders for size and colour
  11. I would go the 1100's, specially given the latest pricing from petplanet. I have two 820's and want more (reef, you're allowed to say "I told you so" as well  )
  12. Dunno but I'm pretty happy about it right now hehe I have a rock absolutely covered in mushrooms too, will get a pic up after dinner
  13. Small update. Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates are now zero, have been zero since last Monday. Added a couple of small green chromis on Sat, levels are still zero and they're looking all happy. Interesting pic.. from left to right they were taken on 4/10, 5/10 and 11/10 (tonight)
  14. Bunnings warehouse, $20ish for a 2.4x1.2m sheet
  15. I have a midnight blue cold cathode for my marine tank, cost me $16 including inverter etc, then a $30 12V power supply from jaycar. Worked great in testing, then I stood on the tube need to get another one

I thought he was asking you a question? or are you a polititian? Or playing Jepoardy? This is all too confusing for me, I'm off to drain my tank

  19. Heh, they're good, silent and don't need hitting. Just not quite grunty enough for my tank, so I'm considering other things
