  1. Females can live together Phillz. Fighters are one of the easiest fish to ship because they can breathe air.
  2. Congrats Misnoma Are those plants real or fake? (they look pretty real to me, with the roots and whatnot) Have the convicts eaten them at all?
  3. Very long fins indeed! It looks as though it has a bump on it's head, I know that means something sex-wise but I don't know what.
  4. I was just thinking, Shae you normally feed yours live/frozen foods right? Mystic and T&V, what do you feed yours? Maybe that makes a difference as to whether or not they feel like munching on plants.
  5. They're going to be the only occupants of the tank (I may put a couple of upside down catfish in with them, but they'll just hide) it's just the plants that I have any concern for!
  6. hmm well I guess I'll see how they go in my tank, here's hoping!
  7. 'salright Shae, I know what you mean (definately glad to be free of it now ) Sounds like it may depend on the actual Convicts as to whether or not they'll be ok with plants - I'm glad I'm getting some of Shae's So the Sharks wouldn't be ok with them but Angels and Gouramis would? Is that just because they're more defensive and can hold their own?
  8. Ah ok. Goldfish Pagoda is a LFS type place, an actual store and not just a house , it's owned and operated by one guy, Patrick. He opens up a little later than normal on the weekend I think, which may be why there was no answer. I talked to him on the phone a couple of hours ago so he's definately there now. They probably have decent Orandas, I'm not much of a Goldfish person myself so I haven't really noticed but they do have tons of different types of Goldfish (hence the name).
  9. I'm getting some convicts soon and I was wondering if you guys would be able to answer a couple of questions I have about them (couldn't find the answers on google). 1) Are they ok with plants (or vice versa)? The tank I'm getting is already heavily planted. 2) Would they be alright with a few Silver Sharks as well? My LFS owner said they would be because the Sharks would be too fast for them to catch.
  10. These are the Bettas that I got from there:
  11. Yes there is a Jansens out here too, it's on Amera place off Ti Rakau Drive, when you're driving down Ti Rakau from Botany the sign is pretty obvious. http://www.wises.co.nz/map/default.asp? ... oomin=true
  12. Goldfish Pagoda, it's on Cascades road http://www.wises.co.nz/map/default.asp? ... oomin=true It's underneath the AS where it says CASCADES, near the dairy and whatnot on that side of the road. He ordered them from his supplier because he didn't have any currently in stock, he keeps quite a range of fish there though.

  14. Re: Iron, Flourish Iron is great for that aspect of plant growing. Seachem should pay me a salary, I'm pratically a spokesperson for them.
  15. Have you used JBL 7 Balls before Susi? Are they any good? I bought a pack the other day on the advice of my LFS owner, but of course it's too early to tell if they're having any affect.

  17. It is fairly neccesary to have test kits otherwise you're basically shooting in the dark. You can get test kits for each individual thing (eg. just pH or just Nitrate, etc) for around $25 each so in light of that I'd say it's a good buy. But don't take my word for it, wait and see what the common consensus is on here.
  18. I play my Master System quite often. I want to get a Megadrive
  19. Use Flourish Excel, it's a plant fertiser and it gets rid of algae too. Just out of curiosity what sort of bad experiences have you had with substrate fertilizers (I use them :-?)? I agree that there's no point in boiling your stuff, algae spores are always going to be in your water and they only grow if conditions are right for them, so instead of trying to get rid of the spores concentrate on changing the conditions (the aforementioned Flourish Excel should do the trick).
  20. They don't have red spots at the tip of them like anchor worms would so I don't think they're that. You may be on to something though Caryl, I'll have to look into that further.
