  1. Does anyone know of any other names for 'Red Spot Plecostomus'? I've looked around on the net and can't find any. There's one for sale on Trademe and I'm considering getting it.
  2. Two of the plants in my aquarium (they're at opposite ends of the tank) have developed brown patches on most of their leaves. There are four other types of plants in the aquarium that are fine, it's just these two. Any suggestions as to what it might be and how to fix it? I'll try to get some pics tommorow. Thanks!
  3. Does anyone know if these guys eat plants or not? Does there need to be two of them to reproduce? How often do they breed and how many young do they usually have? Thanks, Eric
  4. Whatever number 2 is, I have some as well. It's grown about 5cm in the week since I bought it
  5. If you ever get them to breed Netman (the bright red ones), I'd be interested in buying a few.
  6. I was just wondering if anyone knows what sorts of snail eating catfish are sold commonly in NZ? Also what other sorts of snail eating fish would be suited to a 2ft aquarium? Thanks, Eric
  7. At the bottom of that page the original page is specified to be http://www.cam.org/~tomlins/algae.html
  8. Hope everyone had a good time and got what they wanted Although, there are three more hours in which to squeeze in a good time.
  9. What are the ingredients to your fertilizer Warren? I'd be quite interested in making my own.
  10. Well I bought 'Flourish' although it doesn't contain any Potassium the guy at the pet store said it was really good.
  11. I've even had the pellets get covered in a clear fuzz when I left them in the tank overnight one time, so believe me I'm very careful to remove all excess food. Here's a picture of one of the plants from the top, what do you guys think: just new growth or a light/nutrient deficiency?
  12. heheh yeap that's their feeding dish. Right now they're only being fed pellets but as they grow I'm planning on getting some guppies to breed & feed them 8) Some more pics of my Axies are here: http://hummingbird.orcon.net.nz/Ax/ I'm getting another big tank tommorow to put some of them in so they won't be so cramped. Most of them are missing at least one limb, it's a good thing they'll grow back lol. By the way, if anyone wants to buy some off me PM me, I won't have room for 25 adult Axolotls They're all about 6-10cm right now.
  13. First of all I'd just like to say what great forums these are! A lot of things I've been wondering have been answered just by reading around here. My question is, what plants are these? (the tall ones, not the one in the pot) also, they are turning yellow at the top, is this because of too much/too strong light? I have a 15w lamp on 10-12 hours a day. Thanks in advance! ps. I know the tank is terribly bare, I'm getting some more plants soon and the small java ferns I've got should grow a lot bigger as well.
