  1. Thanks guys, I've ended up removing it from the filter. Not worth the risk.
  2. Ok so I've used some silicone to repair this sponge filter of mine. I see now it says it's not meant for sustained submersion (EG FISH TANKS!!)...what will happen if I use it in a tank?
  3. Goldfish Pagoda can get them in for less
  4. White spot is in most water, from my understanding, Clown Loaches are just prone to it because they have no scales. I wouldn't put them in a hospital tank because that would mean putting them through the stress of acclimatisation twice.
  5. They're just different colours of the same species. No reason why they shouldn't go fine together.
  6. Careful about feeding Oscars live food though, they might like the taste so much that they won't eat other types of food anymore!
  7. Depending on how intense the melanin in your hair is, the sun can/does change the colour of some people's hair. If I lived in complete darkness my hair'd be brown, but as it is it's blonde. Java Fern's around the same price here I've heard Shae. It seems kind of silly, charging that much for it though, it grows like crazy! I got tons of it with a tank that I got, I gave Eon a bagful of it and he told me then how much it was, I was amazed. Dunno about the price of the moss though, but it grows at a similar rate.
  8. Khuli Loaches don't eat snails as far as I know. Clown Loaches are peaceful and do eat them though.
  9. Plecos and Oscars are terrible with plants, not much you can do really. Agree with BlueandKim on the filtration though, the more the better with oscars.
  10. Don't know what it could be, but just to be on the safe side try treating the tank with melafix at a half dose to discourage any secondary infections and feed him the best food you can (live/frozen) to help him recooperate.
  11. It really depends on what you're going to put in the tank.
  12. Like I said, I'm pretty Java Moss and Java Fern will be fine with your current light Penejane.
  13. Java Fern and Java moss are actually low light plants, they'd be fine with your current level of light.
  14. You might try some of the larger swords, but why's this in 'General Breeding'?
  15. Are you sure you submitted it right? The last post was approved 8 days ago so I would've thought yours would be too.
  16. They're selling those thermometers for like $1 on trademe Alan.
  17. Here's the method I use. Step one: Throw salt in tank
  18. Well yeah, but I thought the mother produced some hormone that made her not eat her fry after birth though?
  19. Alright, thanks for that Shae.
  20. Are platty fry small enough to be eaten by guppies? I've got one really pregnant Platty and I want to have many more, so I want to know whether or not to remove the guppies from the tank she's in.
  21. Just looking again, the stuff on her face might just be her scales sticking out, hard to tell because she's white.
  22. Her right eye looks like she's wearing a monocule or something, and her face in the immediate area is covered in some white stuff. It's very rigidly defined, like she's got jello over her there, and not like fungus. What could this be and how can I fix it?
  23. Not natural, but have you tried copper sulfate?
