    PLECOSTOMUS

plecos are very cool. ours isnt too lazy, i hear they are nocturnal?? they are also very placid, you can pick them up and move them around and all sorts, very cool fish!
  2. feed em and if they go to the big fish tank in the sky sue the hell out of the ice pack company sorry i cant help really!!
  3. oops  well i thoguht if they have them in night clubs..... so a blue light would be better?
  4. ok sorry for the corny subject line! there is no camera or action! just wondering about lights. i would like to bring the colors out in our fish more. a UV light would be reall cool BUT are there any side effects to the fish? also would a blue light (non uv) bring colors out any better or worse? we dont wanna give our fish cancer or anything! cheers Dodge
  5. loc tight 104 - my girl friends dad is an acylic molder. the reckons itll do the trick fine. alternatively buy a new tank? LOL
  6. just wondering how much you guys would pay for a 250ish L glass tank with lid?
  7. our entire 260L tank is perspex. and you dont need to use silion as they glue that is used is water tight as is. how ever 8mm is pretty thin. the first tank we made was 15mm and warped we now have a 20mm tank and its sweet as. ill see if i can find out what glue we used last time!
  8. our horn is only like 7cm - we got him yesterday!
  9. just a quick question. in out tank we now have 1 x oscar, 1 x flower horn, 1 x pleco, 1 x pepper catfish and 2 x tin foil barbs. why does the oscar ONLY attack the flower horn and pleco? he seems to leave our cat fish, even tho he'll be able to fit into his mouth, and our tin foil barbs alone cheers Dodge
  10. cool - we have a 1000L/hour external canister filter, but isee you can get a undergravel attachment for it. its only about $30 so might get it and see how it goes. oscars are messy bugger, but they sure enjoy live food!!
  11. ok so we have had a smaller tank before and about 7 days ago got our large 250L tank. now we did the good things like upgraded the filter and heater, used the right chemicals and let the tank sit for a long as we could bear. (1) after a few days we noticed the water was kinda cloudy, looked a tad oily and smelt a tad foul. so we added some chems for NH4 and no luck. finally emptied the whole tank washed everything down and refilled. and it was ok. so what causes the water to go dirty so quickly in such a large body of water? (2) our oscar and pleco just today destroyed some very expensive plastic plants  any solutions? esp with living plants? (3) under gravel filtter vs a standard sucky tube. pros and cons? cheers Dodge
