  1. too right, that is to be considered too! a sump tank isnt expensive to make
  2. anything will work, so long as it can hold water and media. huge massive set ups i have seen on mfk sometimes have very 'non pretty' set ups behind the scenes, literally drums filled with media. if it does the same thing, why not? 8)
  3. having royal plecos will eradicate it overnight. my tank and pieces of wood, rocks, everything was covered with it, 3 royal plecos later... thereis nothing left
  4. L191 Sex: unknown size: 15/16cms tip to tip
  5. you are probably better off putting it down, usually it would be too late when its very thin, you will spend more on trying to save it, risk contaminating other fish too
  6. they dont live long after they do anyways. you just get newts, solves your problem.
  7. no but sounds good. cree led is not a new technology, its been around for a while, applications on tanks is good though! it will be bright and very good on power i i think.
  8. cost of them online is actualy similar to pet shops. give hollywood a call, buy a product by aqua one either noodles or the ceramisub. thats fantastic stuff! good value too. they will ship to you im sure.
  9. its all about the texture and how porous it is. the bacteria infests surface area, the rougher it is and the more porous the media the better. sintere happens to be more porous and more textured than your average ceramic, but good quality ceramic lasts longer, albeit a bit more cost. its a balancing act.
  10. they do have long tails, i would say their tail section is same as body/torso. they are a weird shaped pleco, i have one too. but yeah, forearm is good, you can just compare and then measure your forearm as to where it ends from finger tip lol or a measuring tape lol
  11. If you were in asia, people would recommend a dolphin go in there.... anyway, i digress. id say, bichirs, elephant nose, discus.
  12. lets say fancy plecs. i have a 22cm ish cactus pleco. maybe even pushing on slightly more.
  13. its got a good warranty on it fluvals, 3 years i think take it back perhaps?
  14. that would be a tank set up i would consdier if i was to buy a house and build my own tank. i would of course put a glass front above the water level to stop my arowana from taking a field trip to the carpet/concrete floor:D but in saying that, you need a bit of space, also cleaning could be an issue, gotta be planned right, but public aquariums do it all the time. looks awesome. as for BBA, i found royal plecos wipe out Black Beard Algae, if its on a flat surface, it will never take hold. my tank was ridden with BBA, 1 royal pleco , its all gone! i mean... over night! so no longer i worry bout it lol i know its the royal too cos i see the reddish stringy algae intertwined in the royal pleco poo..(yes, i analysed the poo) 8) i want a tank like that!
  15. i heard someone say that massive uv sterilisers can also break down amonia ? not sure if thats true, never tried it.
  16. what type/brand canister? my fluvals keep their seal for a very very long time, one even took 7 years before needing to change. (wow 7 years, i feel old) lol
  17. i know, i was thinking of putting food colouring in the tank? :sml1:
  18. Yay! brutus broke the 50cm mark , measured last night!! (i did include the barbels lol) but i always do as it is part of the fish) few more cm and its as big as the old rtg - Goal - 60cm!!!
  19. yeah food safe, should have though to that lol i was too caught up with the fancy name for the material:D thanks i will pop by and have a look.
  20. what is the material i should be looking for that is inert?
  21. ENZED? ill google them now are they aquarium safe stuff?
  22. wow, nice stand build! tank sounds awesome, what fish you plannin on puttin in there? for a tank that big, i reckon a nice arowana would do just fine:D and you cant go wrong with the fx5s, awsome, clarity is spectacular with them i would suggest getting some of the poret foam from likoma on this forum. i use them, awesome. i would do poret foam top basket, filterwood middle, media bottom... you got 2 of them so its plenty of bio filtration unless you are planning to heavily stock it. Or you could do one fx5 focused on bio, another mechanical?
  23. Wow i think that may be an unwanted organism :sml1:
