  1. planning to get melafix, worked before ages ago when i had pop eye but i failed to diagnose it, i thought it was just a cut on the eye. the eye, one of them is extremely portruding, amazed its still attached, got really bad over the course of the day! melafix i read is good for pop eye as a easy to use med. is this permanent ? will it blind the red sev permanently or even kill it? i cant get melafix untill tomorrow as i have run out and usually i have some laying around.
  2. most likely it could be from external source. a red light from a tv or something can freak them out. blacked the sides and back? that helps.
  3. yeah solar heating thats what i was thinking. doable lol but i think ill do it when i own my home.
  4. renting, already thoguth of it lol but also, those things filter out UVB anyways. Most of it if not all. just interesting, i guess im questioning the rationale behind arowana tanning but when you see aros in ponds, its pretty hard to not be convinced, the redness is way more extreme. a thought came to me the other day.... outdoor pond during summer.... wonder how hard it would be to heat it during summer lol
  5. yeah but im thinking, is it the maturity of the fish taht does it? i guess just open to discussion lol wondering other peoples take on it.
  6. look, recently as a natural 'questioner of the status quo' - i have questions the merits and science behind TANNING AROWAWAS. does it work? i cant tell as i only have one. does anyone have any articles, info, etc of UV rays changing the colours of fish to be more vibrant? not just arowanas, but other fish too.
  7. cool i think it is a RTG, im pretty sure it is. it should say on the certificate what type of arowana
  8. depends on turn over and stock and water volume, tank size. the more the merrier when it comes to bio media but with in reason. i prefer to over stock on bio media to be over capacity than under.
  9. No tanning lights photo shot :slfg: that photo shop was old so the colour would be more 'candy' now with the current colour development. but i did that to show the asian forum that its easily manipulated. most of the pictures you see on asian forums advertised by suppliers are photo shopped!! its a shame, but they always either use very very red lights , so red it even colours your own skin red under the light or photo shop or both lol i always stir on there, i always askthem to post a video with white light to show real colours, 100% of the time, no one responds to that lol
  10. OH yes, that particular photo does, thats not photo shop lol but yes, i have pics with out the light on the brutus thread. wee2, that aro looks like an rtg if i am not mistaken. red tail golden. they are farm bred, certified by cites.
  11. lol yeah its mine. no photoshop, I promise! any aros out there? in nz?
  12. Not sure but rumour has it that he actually doesnt come out during daylight and that he may actually be a vampire..............................
  13. Who has an arowanas, please specify type of arowana as well. Or if you personally know someone who has asian arowana (green, gold, red) i forgot, in NZ by the way.
  14. bruy it? you men buy it? lol wonder what it is... variant maybe? its skin is also light, i mean, not black or grey, almost speckly white... fading. as if its struggling to keep its dark colour
  15. I believe dragonstone is a fabled rock that was used to forge a enchanted blade. the blade is then used by able warriors to vanquish the forces of evil and protect this realm from corruption and death.... myth has it that the dragon stone came from the 'sky'. I remember, historians believe that conan referred to this as 'star metal' - it was used to expose reptilian beings hiding in our realm as one of us....................
  16. its actually an easy option. Bio balls if its a trickle wet dry. if its submerged, Sintered glass noodle is awesome value. http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 226831.htm couple sell it online, ask for a bulk price.
  17. if you get scoria, get smaller pieces... more surface area, bio balls are more effective when it is a wet dry filter... if its submerged they are not as effective. i would actually get 'sintered glass noodles' on Trademe, very good, cheap and value for money....
  18. no its marked as a fire eel... that is some sort of marine life that name mark
  19. saw a fire eel with white spots instead of red. big blotchy white spots, distinctive. any idea what it is?
  20. sorta keen, but thinking of buying a red severum, might take my funds, so depends on how much it is for lol whats the diet of the fire eel?
  21. why wait.... i remember i did offer a person for their SPECTACULAR royal:D
  22. sorry id ont, but the one i have is imported, they will be bred soon im sure. i have a male, my female is recovering from a love tap from a horny midas male lol
  23. no, no dissection pics sorry:D but there really isnt much in the body ay, that thing was all meat! it had a layer of fat, liver, heart wasnt big (what i thought was heart) then the gut isnt big either. but it was a thick hunk of meat! sad, really sad, but i thought about it, it was very old! 8 to 10 years i believe. googling it, that is reasonable, so i dont feel AS bad about it i guess, got to a ripe old age. new fish? well.... not sure about another eel, i find smaller ones tend to be very easily phased and die easily. was thinking perhaps a school of another type of loaches lol dont know, or more mid dwelling fish actually, cichlids perhaps:D fire mouth, texas...cheap, pretty and eats heaps:D
