  1. The wood is currently soaking apparently almost sunk, so shouldnt take long:D
  2. Have some royals. Maybe 1 piece enough for 6 royal?
  3. holy moly! times that to 2500 litres, dream tank of mine with aro comm:D royal plecos tend to eat plants lol
  4. Yeah that's also my thoughts on it... II can always put sump further away... that's not a problem.
  5. yeah theya re awesome!! i wouldnt ind having a small group of cactus, sunshine and royals as bottom dweller! pics! hows my cactus flatfish?
  6. something like this http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f76/d ... 03981.html
  7. how do i pull off the cover? vivarium thing davids suggesting is an awesome idea. i am seriously and still am considering that, really you place a reptile cage type thing on top of the tank!
  8. it will e in a purpose built garage. well purposely modified garage. not inside the house. noice is not the highest priority, though pretty high. its flow and practicality. and then the wood sticking out would equal that. 3 overflows sounds like a good plan!! i was planning on 2 with massive drains. piping will be over engineered to ensure it has no bottlenecks at all. overflows will have combs on each to ensure that nothing big goes down into it. maybe pick the combs in alternating patters to make the gaps bigger as there is nothing in the tnak that will fit that small hole! as for mesh, i was actally thinking more plastic chicken wire, black. maybe surrounded by glass or wood perhaps but not sure. the point is to see the wood stick out with lights suspended. i dont quite get the point adrienne, can you elaborate? the mesh should give a more 'open' look as opposed to glass. worse case, i will use glass and fit it around the wood. but an open look would look awesome. davids idea of a vavarium is cool
  9. Alright, plans to buy a house is looking good. 80% there. i am planning on building a big tank, as you know, an arowana community. tank dimensions will be: 3m x 1.2m x 74cm H approx 2600 Litres I am thinking a 'braceless' look. i have already confirmed, i can use a big sheet of glass and double up on the base to brace it but have the braceless look, if that makes sense. Also this will provide extra strength at the bottom - tank will be build on side on the stand. Anyway, i have a spectacular piece of wood thats gong in there, and the top will kinda stick out. I want it to stick out .. like the amano look.... the lids my problem. i dont know how to excecute it, i was thinking of a mesh type lid, plastic smooth edged so arowanas wont cut themselves. and the wood can stick out of the water, lights suspended on ceiling - i was thinking stand would be about 70 to 80cms from the ground, so my sump can fit and the tower come out of the side of the tank, whcih will all be covered by something. any ideas on the lid? Any ideas? Also, is it easy to do those pips that go behind the over flow so its completely silent? also do they restrict flow? should i bother? i wanted it quieter - after seeing a very quiet tank, i quite like the quiet set up!
  10. yeah 10mm is fine, 12 is plenty. 15mm is if your width is 90 plus. 15mm glass is SUPER thick! it will be one safe tank though:D
  11. clear water is my obsession! the tank is 600L has an fx5 and a sump fit for a 2500 litre set up:D haha overkill? yes. but hey thats fine.
  12. Would get it if circumstances were different! Shame.
  13. I have only had one but they have never shown any unusual aggression to any other plecos. they are very active generally and is the first to feed out of all the plecos i had. i dont see 2 to be a problem so long as there are hiding spots for each if they both end up males
  14. i know, but he has good room to turn around, only temporary. bare bottom is really looking good lol never had one before. suncats are about 15cms ish. havent realy measured. but growingt slowly
  15. yeah man, and it can happen easily too!

  17. everyone has to start somewheer, I remember, when i was in philippines and had my first silver arowana at 6yrs old. I had no idea or understanding of the bio filtration, i thought if the water was dclear, the water was good. with technology, information comes easy. With information then we can avoid such hassles as wasting money by newbies. i think articles are great in this regard.
  18. Good work. Pellet n meaty food combo grows them best! Henward guarantee
  19. after seeing blacked out bottom bare bottom, i may try that first. see how it goes. i dont plan on having lots of current at the bottom of the tank eventually, so could be ok if i wanna try a thin layer of substrate perhaps. its a tough call. permanent is permanent, so gotta think bout it quite a bit.
  20. yes, i think mind changing could be the main issue. i blacked out the bottom of the glass and just put my aro in it this evening, looks very nice bare bottom with black bottom. very sleek, new age type of look haha
  21. another idea. where and what type? could be more expensive perhaps? i was thinking tiling but tiling can be ugly! doesnt lok too natural. i was also thinking using stone veneer, but thats expensive!! you know the stone veneer you get for cladding. not sure if they change water parameters though.
