  3. Hi I had 4 golden rams that i had been feeding lots of live food too in there own tank when tonight i notice two were paired off and one was really fat so i removed the other two who had been religated to a corner and waited. I did not have to wait long because within the hour the pair have layed what looks like hundards of eggs on a flat stone in the tank. Now its in one of those Jebo tanks with the "power" filter which i know will be too strong for any babies, what i need advice with is I'm planning to change it to a sponge filter and turn off the main filter, When would be the best time to do this ? As there now in a tank alone should i then just leave them too it ? any help and advice greatly apperciated

  8. Hi As Caryl said Tetras and Barbs are good , ssordtails and platies make for a colourful tank too. Send me a PM, I have some baby Odessa Barbs, Golden Barbies and a few others that might fit the bill
  9. Hi Welcome to the site , lots of great and very helpful people here. Your tank is 120L and you have 10 goldfish init already , thats pretty well stock to overflowing of course depending on the size but they grow fast so please do lots of reading before you go buy any more fish. It hard to say how over stocked it is without knowing the size of these guys but water changes of 20% weekly would be a good start and increase it to 30% as they get bigger or water condistion turn bad. Goldfish are very messy fish. You can use somewhere like photobucket.com to upload your pictures and then load to this site. Good luck and welcome again
  10. This seem stable again today , no more losses today Death toll so far 2 x Orange rainbows 1 x female orange thick lipped G ( my breeding female ) 1 x Swordtail male 1 x bristlenose. Lets hope thats where it end !
  11. Ok with two great fish dead and no idea why I've pulled about 7 large fish i would hate to lose out and put them elsewhere, but what do i do now ? in the last two days the tanks had a 40% & 30% water change and there still dropping, the wood and 1 rock i added have been taken out. The water has been tested for PH, Ammonia , Nitrate & Nitrite and all are good, the filter is working fine. Its the larger rainbows that have died so far, even tho the tank contains fish like neons, swordtails, millies and glass cats and even bristlenose and 3 hoplo's they all seem fine so far. Any help would be great, do i have to strip the whole tank ( 215L ) and start again from cratch ? would this fix the problem as i don't know what the problem is ?
  12. This is crazy a 2nd large rainbow just died that was ok 15 mintues ago !! I have no idea whats happening !
  13. Damn! I lost one of my large orange rainbows out this tank tonight , still testing good so it must be some toxin thats been released by the change around , i've just done another 30% water change and will asses them tomorrow ...damn i hate losing fish like that
  14. I've had common BN spawn much smaller than 7cm , probably around the 4-5cm mark.
  15. Yes it does , thanks Warren, all seems well still. Sounds like i did your what you all say , i realised some bacteria when i moved stuff out. We live and learn , and at least no fish paid the price
  16. Thanks for the great info guys I knew someone in here would know Thanks again

Hi Nick These guys are great fish I just love mine , I feed them as good a varitity as i can which they seem to like , we all get sick of the same thing all the time so i mix it up between, Flake, frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worm, Tetracichlid mini granules ( for the smaller one's) and cichlid sticks for the adults, I also try and give them live food , mozzie lava and daphnia when its around and they love that Mine seem happy and are breeding way nicely so good luck with yours and try the live food if you can. I could just be there a little spooked with the new tank and all , keep a close eye on them but don'y worry too much at this stage
  19. I have two differant sizes 920 x 920 x 420 this is a 3 level of shelves 1520 x 800 x 300 this comes as a 5 level unit but i only use 4 levels to give me more room to work on the tanks.
  20. not sure on age but I'd say not before they were around the 3cm + range in size
  21. Well evereything this morning seems to be back to normal, i'm starting to think they had a plan to mess with my mind for extra attension and who says fish can't think  Thanks for all the help anyway guys
  22. Temp is just under 28 but thats close to normal for that tank in the past week or two its raised to 29 during the day without this happening. I've increased the surface movement and keeping a close eye on them.
  23. Hi I'm a little worried about my 200L community tank, Its a well established tank that has had no problems , its a little over stocked but nothing major and well filtered with a Eheim external filter, i also run a air wall which aerates the tank as well as looks nice. Yesterday i did a big change around in the tank, adding a peice of wood and 1 extra stone, nothing major but did do a 45% water change at the same time a little excesive i know but there you go. Last night they were all fine and up till late this afternoon all was fine , i've just noticed at about 9pm a lot of the fish are at the surface and some breathing heavy, I've tested the water and its almost perfect , to withing a wisker . Apart from the water change i can't think whats happened , I've increased the air flow via the pump. Any ideas guys ? Should i be this worried ? , its just out of the normal behaviour
  24. My GBA's also seem to prefer an orniment to a pot so you may have something there , we really need a Dr Dolittle
  25. Thats the plan Caryl, now if only i could get them to order from the bar
