    new stand.

What is the size of the tank?
  3. A stream aint a stream without the magnets Brian! Everyone knows that!!
  4. Id have to say that a yellow eyed Kole Tang would have to be my pick. They Almost eat the rock the algae is on also! Awesome fish, but sensitive. An easier one is the common yellow tang. They graze on algae all day long.
  5. Yeah, I didnt get it for Cyano. I got it for Diatoms, however it look as though silicates may be the cause for Cyano also. My Cyano is melting rapidly...could be the VODKA though!
  6. ??? have a few last nite fay!!!
  7. Awesome dude, Thanks very much. They're going sweet!
  8. Not very effectively unless you built something similar to one!

\Hey Ira, Hows the Magnesium? And.....If you turn the switch on the skimmer on and off slowly while checking the performance, you will notice the skimmer bubbles up hard at one time and bugger all the next time. (The air tap needs to be fully open while doing this). If you see no difference and it is bubbling profusely, the flap is ok. If you see it changing , you either should remove the flap or flick the switch each time to get it right.
  10. Its just resin slappers! Nothing to see. I just saw a post by a denmark reefer who reckons silicates will feed Cyano also.... Very interesting. Denmark water is apparently very high in silicates and they have to use silicic acid resin to eradicate Cyano. Mmmm....... I will be posting results as they unfold.
  11. I have imported, (finally), a bed resin for my DI unit from Germany. I have added half of this product directly below my mixed bed resin. This silicic acid resin is solely designed to remove all incoming silicates before entering the tank. Standard Mixed Bed resin will only stop Diatoms for a short period and will then alow silicates to flow on through into the tank. The Silicic acid resin is designed to remove it for the entirity of the DIs life of around a year. Testing is underway! I should have Zero diatoms from now on unless my NSW brings in a few. If this is the case, the Diatoms should only last around a week and then disappear.
  12. The only safe way to measure Salinity is to buy a refractometer. These are as accurate as anyone needs to go and are reliable.
  13. Its not a mushroom, they call them "Rics" in the States or something like that. (Ricordias huh??)!! Where did you get it? I want some!!
  14. In the bigger picture above, the distance from the Staghorn in the rear to the front of the glass is around a metre or more!!! Some more.....plus the SKIMMER and a nice pic of the "Skuz" himself!! DELTEC AP1003. This thing is Wicked. (Check out the diameter of the CUP compared to Skuzza's forearm...ITS HUGE and Skuzza aint a little fella either)! NICE PIC SKUZ, Top bloke...and a nice TBird!!
  15. Went for an Xmas trip to Rotorua for a coupla days and caught up with Skuzza. Here are some pics of his cool tank! Approx 2000 litre system. Tank dimensions are a whopping 2200mm Long x 1200mm wide x about 600mm high. The "front to back" (1200mm) of this tank is AWESOME! 2 people could swim in this thing! Photo doesnt really show it....need to see it in the flesh.

    deltec v beckett

You say "Keep up with the Jones"...... I reckon its more likely thet you WILL KNOW that the beckett wont skim as much and your tank will deteriorate!!
  17. Duke I have 2 x 1250's and they are awesome. If you get stuck, just PM me. I have them completely sussed. They also run in reverse when the flap gets a bit stuck with marine crap, so beware. Will skim half as much.

    deltec v beckett

Sorry, Deltecs rock. If you havent seen a AP1003 in action you need to forget the rest. This Deltec is literaly a nutrient removing machine of brilliance. My 1250 turbos are beaut little machines also. Deltecs are proven and the Germans know what they're doing....Always have. Becketts are probably fine also....but not worth testing against a Deltec. They will lose.
  19. Dunno yet...could be possible. am trying another approach at the moment. Why would the p04 in the sand bed not leach into the water column? Ive just syphoned it twoce in the last week. You'd think that would pull out all the crap. There is no reason po4 would store in the sandbed and not the rock, Its the same material. BUT...I am running half aragonite... could it be that?
  20. Have to agree here..... My tank has zero phosphate and nitrate. (Salifert). But I am still riddled with cyano...... My tank is running 2 x large streams, (heaps of current) Plus 2 x Deltec 1250 turbo skimmers which are running great. No dead spots at all. Acros are awesome...It only grows on the sand. some rocks are still new, but am still a bit annoyed. If not gone in a couple of months, I will become an enraged reef demon!!
