Run a remote gen set in a sound proof box outside. You only need a 650 KVA to run two big fans. SUPERCHEAP have get them on special til today for $169.00. Normally $250.00 (This model wont need a sound proof box, Its quiet as). Ive got one...they are really cool. I used it the other day when we had a 7 hour power cut again.

yip, just the ambient temp would take it to 28 at the moment even if your heaters were off. And the jump from 23 to 28 may stress things. Leave the heaters on.

My tank is the hottest yet this year.......28.1 with large Fans running 24/7. Hows everyone else out there?

I agree with Alois. I am running Vodka too and I have stripped out too many nutrients before. SPS colours become weak like some ZEO tanks. I personally would rather have some DOCS in the Water Column. My P04 is Zero and same with No3. Plus I am running Stop parasite again at the moment and have no carbon in place. In a couple of months I expect the montis to go a bit pinker with Vodka, but dont care either way......The orange/pink look is still nice.

My SPS are growing at very fast speeds at the moment, but I will make sure by posting some progress shots and check time differences. Monday 30 January 2006: (If you notice just to the right of the MONTI you will see a smallish dark staghorn sticking straight up. Just lately it has grown 4 x small knobs out of the top and will be interesting to see its growth from here).

I notice you are FRESHWATER. I think Baking soda will still be ok. check with other experienced freshies!

You dont need to worry about the Ph level in your freshwater top up water. If you want to raise it in the main tank, just add baking soda. add 2 teaspoons per 300 litres and test after that. YOU ARE TESTING FOR ALKALINITY, NOT PH. iF YOU GET YOUR ALKALINITY TO 8 OR 10 DKH YOUR PH WILL BE PERFECT UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. RUN YOUR SKIMMER ALSO AS AERATION RAISES PH TOO.

are you running a 20amp circuit breaker or a 16amp one? Also, what room is the plug point in?
