  2. Hi there - thank you so much to the person who has managed to load these directly for me. Much appreciated! To Sophia - the best husbandry info link that I have found is this http://www.hermann-tortoise.co.uk/ It is a really useful site. If you, or any one else, is keen on a tortoise I do have some available and I'm happy to answer any questions by email regarding care etc....
  3. Oh no photos do not seem to have worked...... any tips gratly appreciated! In the meantime if you are keen to see the photos fell free to email me ([email protected]) or pm me and I will email them to you. Sorry!
  4. Hi there I thought some of you torotise lovers might enjoy seeing soe photos of our newest babies!
  5. Hi - I am a breeder happy to offer care tips etc to other owners or future owners. Email [email protected]
  6. Hi - I live in Auckland. I want them as a pet. To breed one day would be fantastic too, but it looks like I will really struggle to come across a female?
  7. Hi I have seen quite a few Greeks up for sale lately but no Hermanns. I have been looking for some time, does any one know any breeders? I am willing to pay the market rate - whatever that may be?? Are they in the same price range as the Greeks? Thanks for any help/info you may be able to give me.
  8. Thanks for the quick reply livingart! I have made some compost type mounds around the enclosure just in case. She was doing it again this morning when I went out to feed them and even making the high pitched squeak that the male usually makes. Very odd! I guess I just need to wait and see?
  9. Hi, about a month ago I introduced two new female hermann tortoises to my little group. The older of the two (12yrs) seems to be settling in really well. However the younger (9yrs) has started to harass my existing female. She bites her legs and seems to try and mate with her. I read somewhere online that this behaviour could mean she is gravid??? Could there be any other reasons for this behaviour? Maybe she could be being territorial??? Any help greatly appreiciated.
  10. Hi, I was at Kelly Tarlton's recently and they were recommending a vet who specialises in turtles/tortoises and is doing free health checks for turtles and tortoises during the month of November. I think they were in Sth Auckland somewhere an I can dig out the name phone number if anyone is interested???
  11. Does anyone know how to get hold of an incubator at short notice?

Great thanks for that! I was searching under "tortoise" rather than "tortoises" I think. $1800 seems a lot, I wonder what a breeding age female would be worth!

thanks for the welcome! I have been reading posts on here for a little while and thought it was time I joined in. I live in Auckland.
  15. Hi, there are obviously a few people here interested in tortoises (me included). I realise they are very rare here but does anyone know what you would have to pay if one did become available? Are we talking hundreds, thousands or more??? Thanks for your help. Like every other tortoise fan I'm particularly keen to get hold of a female but I realise I might be dreaming! haha
